Lahore: Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarters Lahore Fakhar Bashir Raja conducted a surprise visit to the Driving Licensing Centre and Driving School at Greater Iqbal Park on Friday, reviewing various stages of the licensing process and facilities being provided to citizens.
During the visit, SP inspected different sections of the licensing centre and inquired from citizens about the facilities being provided to them.
He directed the staff to arrange additional chairs and ensure the availability of cold drinking water for citizens visiting the centre.
At the driving school, he directed the relevant staff to provide trainees with practical briefings on tyre changing as well as electrical and mechanical work.
SP Raja said traffic officers should facilitate citizens and make the licensing process easier for them.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said corruption and malpractice would not be tolerated at licensing centres and that officials found involved in corruption would face dismissal from service rather than mere suspension.
‘Merit and transparency are being ensured at all driving licensing centres,’ Shirazi said, adding that negligence, corruption and lethargy in official duties would not be tolerated.
He directed all driving centres to give priority to women and senior citizens and ordered that video recordings of driving tests conducted for all applicants be preserved.
The CTO also directed authorities to prominently display the public helpline number 0322-5638888 at all driving licensing centres to facilitate citizens.
