Lahore: Minister for Local Government (LG) Zeeshan Rafique has said that 485 villages are being made ‘model’ under ‘Maryam Nawaz’s Sohna (beautiful) Punjab’ program. So far, development schemes in 19 villages have been 100 per cent completed.
He was speaking at a review meeting of the Model Village Program held at the Civil Secretariat. Special Secretary Syed Musa Raza and Additional Secretary Mehreen Faheem Abbasi also attended the meeting, while Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company (PRMSC) CEO Khurram Pervez gave a briefing.
Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique expressed satisfaction that 67 per cent of the work of making 281 more villages model has been completed. He said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is providing all possible funds for the Model Village Program. “Streets are being paved in every model village. A children’s park will also be built along with it. In addition to installing street lights, a sewage system will also be constructed”, he figured out. Zeeshan Rafique added that water schemes will be provided in villages where there is a problem with clean water. “The scope of the “model village” will be gradually expanded upon the completion of the first phase”, he promised.
