Mirpur: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Dr Mustafa Bashir Abbasi has announced that specialist doctors will be available at the District Headquarters Hospital Hattian Bala three days a week to improve healthcare services for residents of Jhelum Valley, it was officially stated on Saturday.
The minister made the announcement during a visit to DHQ Hospital Hattian Bala, where he inspected various departments and reviewed medical facilities, treatment arrangements, patient care and the overall performance of the hospital. Principal Medical College Dr Adnan, Director General Health and other relevant officers accompanied him.
Medical Superintendent Dr Ahmed Junaid briefed the minister on the hospital’s administrative affairs, available medical facilities, performance of different departments, services being provided to patients, doctors and paramedical staff, and issues faced by the hospital.
Dr Mustafa Bashir Abbasi inspected various sections of the hospital and reviewed the available healthcare facilities. He also sought information about staff attendance, patient care and measures being taken to further improve the quality and accessibility of medical services.
The health minister said the AJK government was taking practical steps to provide basic and quality healthcare facilities to the people. He said efforts would be made to further strengthen medical services at DHQ Hospital so that residents of Jhelum Valley would not have to travel to other cities for treatment and specialist consultations.
He directed the concerned officers to address patients’ problems, improve medical facilities and ensure better public services. The minister said improving healthcare services was among the government’s priorities and all possible resources would be utilised to provide timely treatment and better facilities to the people.
