Chiniot: On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, stringent measures are being implemented to ensure strict enforcement of traffic laws, as traffic police continued their ongoing operations under the supervision of DSP Traffic Khurram Shahzad.
According to official figures, traffic police issued challans worth Rs 1,024,580 to 543 vehicles for violating traffic rules during the last 24 hours. Action was taken against 173 motorcycle riders for not wearing helmets, while 25 vehicles emitting hazardous smoke were fined. In addition, 123 challans were issued for driving without a valid license, 27 for underage driving, and 100 for other traffic violations.
In this regard on Sunday, while exclusively talking to reporter, District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif said that along with strict enforcement, awareness campaigns are also being carried out to prevent road accidents and ensure safe travel for citizens. He urged the public to strictly follow traffic rules for their own safety and that of others. The DPO further said that driving licenses are being issued under a special campaign to facilitate citizens, advising motorists to obtain a license as a mark of being a responsible and law-abiding citizen.
