Lahore: The Community Engagement and Tree Plantation Campaign 2026, launched under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Green Lahore Vision, ” continued across the provincial capital in full swing on Tuesday.
Under the leadership of Horticulture Agency Lahore Managing Director Ahmed Usman Javed, students, civil society members, and citizens from various walks of life actively participated in sapling plantation drives at multiple locations across the city.
As part of the drive, students from the Department of Geography at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) planted saplings at Jinnah Garden, reaffirming their commitment to environmental sustainability. Similarly, schoolchildren and teachers participated in a plantation activity at Neelam Block Park.
Tree plantation activities were also carried out in Zone 7 (Shahdara) and Zone 3 (Tajpura), where local residents alongside political and social figures planted saplings to expand the city’s green cover.
Managing Director Ahmed Usman Javed stated that the primary objective of the campaign was to make Lahore greener, more beautiful, and environmentally friendly through active public participation.
He emphasized that special attention was being paid not only to planting saplings but also to their regular maintenance and growth to ensure long-term environmental benefits for the city.
