Turkish CG, Commissioner Karachi celebrate I-Day at Dawood Engineering University


Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi attended the Independence Day celebrations held at Dawood University of Engineering and Technology on August 14 , as the chief guest here on Friday.



He hoisted the national flag and cut the Independence Day cake, in the ceremony which was also addressed by the Consul General of Trkiye, Ergul Kadak and Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Samreen Hussain.



A large number of students and parents attended the ceremony. Students presented national songs, delivered speeches highlighting the importance of independence, and performed tableaus promoting national unity, harmony, love and solidarity among all communities.



Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi distributed certificates among outstanding students and faculty in recognition of their academic achievements and services.



Addressing the ceremony, Commissioner Karachi said that freedom is a precious blessing as well as a responsibility. He said that students today have far greater opportunities than in the past to learn, develop their skills and demonstrate their abilities.



He said that the opportunities for progress and advancement in the present era are in the hands of the younger generation for building their future. He appreciated the students’ tableaus and speeches on subjects of national importance.



Addressing the students, Commissioner Naqvi said, ‘Our youth possess tremendous talent, and their abilities are a valuable asset for the country.’ He said that the confidence and enthusiasm visible in the eyes of the students I have seen indicated a bright future, adding that their talent gave hope that Pakistan would become one of the developed nations of the world.



Referring to the reputation and academic standard of Dawood University, the Commissioner said that he had always wished to study at the university.



He recalled that Dawood University had been his first choice for admission and that he had even visited the university to obtain an admission form. However, due to some circumstances, he dropped the idea to get the form, and ultimately he was admitted to NED University of Engineering and Technology.
