Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed the Deputy Commissioners to continue the campaign against encroachments affecting the traffic flow in their respective districts and ensure that encroachments are prevented on roads and footpaths. He further said in his direction roadside hotels should be removed with due diligence and action should be taken against the involved persons as per the law.
The Commissioner reviewed the reports of actions submitted to the Commissioner Karachi by various Deputy Commissioners regarding the efforts being carried out for the price control of essential commodities, removal of encroachments and other activities for the improvement of civic facilities.
According to the handout issued by the Commissioner’s Office, Assistant Commissioner SITE Muhammad Yousuf has taken full action to remove encroachments established in Sher Shah since the commencement of Maripur Road Lyari Expressway.
According to the report submitted to the Commissioner, There were two major encroachments of permanent nature (hard encroachments).
There was an illegal wood market established under the bridge, which was completely demolished and removed. – In one of the encroachments, there was illegal occupation by a construction company. The company had erected cattle shed and other unauthorized structures and occupied government land. All these encroachments were demolished.
According to the report, in addition to the constructions, the operation also removed the large illegal parking lot established in a systematic manner over a large area. According to the Assistant Commissioner, this large illegal parking lot was a problem for traffic. About 50 to 80 illegally parked vehicles (including both private and commercial vehicles) were removed from the area. The Anti-Encroachment Force, KMC and the local police participated and supported the operation.
Assistant Commissioner North Nazimabad Naimat Khan took action in North Nazimabad and removed the encroachments on the footpaths and roadside hotels.
According to the Assistant Commissioner, he seized all the chairs and tables on the roadside that were being used illegally in roadside hotels. While Assistant Commissioner Bin Qasim Sajjad Ansari took action against the sale of LPG violating the official price at Ghaghar Phatak in Bin Qasim Sub-Division. He took action against a total of three LPG shops. One shop was sealed in the operation. While three shops were fined Rs. 10,000.
