DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Dera police busted an inter-provincial bike-lifter gang and arrested its two members recovering 14 stolen motorcycles during different operations.
SDPO Saddar Circle Imran Ullah Khattak informed this while addressing a press conference along with SHO Saddar police station Malik Sajid and SHO Dera Town police station Khalid Javed Lashari here.
He said taking notice of rising bike-lifting and robbery incidents in the city, District Police Officer Nasir Mehmood ordered to launch a comprehensive crackdown against bike-lifters and robbers.
He said a team of Saddar and Dera Town police stopped a suspected car bearing registration number (AMU-343) at Khhutti check post for checking. The police recovered spare-parts of four motorcycles of different companies from the said car and arrested accused Muhammad Nizam son of Muhammad Azeem, a resident of Zhob.
Similarly, a truck bearing registration number (TAC-325) was also checked at the check post. The police recovered 10 motorcycles from the tr
uck which were stolen from different areas of Dera Ismail Khan and Punjab. The accused travelling on front seat of the truck managed to flee from the scene however, the police arrested accused truck driver Asif Khan son of Azam. The escaped accused was identified as Noor Uddin son of Daraz Khan.
The SDPO said some locals of Dera Ismail Khan were also playing facilitative role for this gang, adding, the raids were being conducted for their arrest.
