Sargodha: The University of Sargodha celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and a renewed pledge to contribute to the country’s progress and prosperity.
The celebrations began with a flag-hoisting ceremony led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, deans, directors, heads of academic and administrative departments, faculty and staff members, and children attended the ceremony.
The national anthem was played, followed by patriotic songs that added to the national spirit.
As part of the celebrations, the Riaz Shad Co-curricular Forum organised Urdu speech, essay writing, quiz and national song competitions. Students participated enthusiastically and highlighted the struggle for Pakistan, patriotism and their responsibilities towards the country.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas distributed cash prizes among the winners, with first, second and third position holders receiving Rs5,000, Rs3,000 and Rs2,000, respectively.
The Directorate of Sports also organised exhibition cricket matches and karate performances by children. Sargodha District Police Officer Muhammad Tauqeer Naeem attended as chief guest and appreciated the children’s performances.
A large number of faculty members, staff, students and children participated in the celebrations.
