Sargodha: Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat met Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar at his office here on Sunday to discuss ways to improve academic quality, strengthen research, enhance technology usage and foster institutional collaboration.
According to a spokesperson, Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar welcomed the Vice Chancellor and congratulated him on assuming his new appointment.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat briefed the HEC Chairman on the university’s strategic priorities, emphasizing the need to align academic development with measurable improvements in teaching, research, and student learning outcomes.
He said academic programs needed to remain responsive to market demands, while faculty development and research capacity should be strengthened through focused support and academic partnerships.
The Vice Chancellor stressed that research should address societal and economic needs, placing greater focus on quality, interdisciplinary projects, and outcomes that yield practical solutions.
He also highlighted the importance of using digital technologies to simplify academic and administrative processes, increase transparency, and boost institutional efficiency.
The two sides further discussed strengthening linkages between the University of Sargodha, HEC, and other higher education institutions through joint research, faculty development, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar assured the Vice Chancellor of HEC’s full support and facilitation for programs aimed at elevating academic standards, research capabilities, and overall institutional performance.
