Islamabad:Pakistan Railways has restored the Sandal Express between Sargodha and Multan following the intervention of Wafaqi Mohtasib Naveed Kamran Baloch, providing travel facilities to passengers in hundreds of towns and villages along the route.
The train service had been suspended some time ago, causing difficulties for students, employees, traders and other passengers who depended on it for daily travel.
According to details, Muhammad Ramzan, a resident of Silanwali, approached the Regional Office of the Wafaqi Mohtasib in Sargodha on May 24 and requested the restoration of the train service.
Regional Office In-charge Khawaja Saif-ur-Rehman summoned Pakistan Railways officials from Rawalpindi and Multan and held hearings on the complaint.
During the proceedings, railway officials failed to provide a satisfactory reason for suspending the service. However, they stated that the decision to restore the train fell within the jurisdiction of the Railway Traffic Office at Pakistan Railways Headquarters in Lahore.
The matter was subsequently referred to the railway headquarters. Following hearings and correspondence, the Wafaqi Mohtasib issued directions to restore the Sandal Express.
Pakistan Railways has implemented the directions and resumed train operations between Sargodha and Multan.
The Sandal Express arrived in Sargodha from Multan with passengers on August 21, 2026, following the restoration of the service.
Residents along the route welcomed the decision and thanked the Wafaqi Mohtasib for addressing their complaint. They said they had approached various railway offices several times for restoration of the train but had not received any relief.
They said the intervention of the Wafaqi Mohtasib resolved the matter in less than three months.
The restoration of the Sandal Express is expected to facilitate passengers travelling between Multan and Sargodha, particularly students, employees, traders and daily commuters in towns and villages along the route.
