Dera ismail khan: A wanted robber was injured and arrested after an exchange of fire with police within the limits of the City police station.
According to a police spokesman, a team led by City DSP Sagheer Shah Gilani and SHO Cantt Abdul Ghaffar Khan was on polio duty when it received information that Muhammad Saqib alias Golden and an accomplice were planning a robbery in Shahjahan Town.
The police team reached the area, upon seeing the police, the suspects opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate in self-defence. After the firing stopped, Saqib was found injured and arrested, who was later shifted to a hospital.
His accomplice took advantage of the populated area and escaped. The police said raids were being conducted to arrest him.
According to police, Saqib was a proclaimed offender and was wanted in seven cases registered at Cantt police station, including cases of theft, attempted murder and robbery.
District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmed appreciated the City DSP and his team for the timely action and said operations against criminal elements would continue without discrimination.
