Mirpur: Chairman WASA Punjab Nawabzada Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan on Tuesday visited Attock on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to review the authority’s performance, monsoon preparedness and arrangements for providing better civic services to citizens.
Upon arrival at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the chairman was received by former provincial minister Jahangir Khanzada, former MPA Sardar Iftikhar Ahmed Khan, District President Saleem Shehzad, Nadeem Malik, Ahmed Khanzada, Malik Ansar, Shani Bhai and Managing Director WASA Attock Muhammad Aqeel Awan. A meeting was later held to review WASA Attock’s ongoing operations and challenges.
During the briefing, MD WASA Attock Muhammad Aqeel Awan highlighted departmental performance and ongoing initiatives. The meeting discussed monsoon-related challenges, timely desilting of drains, drainage arrangements, establishment of relief camps, resolution of public complaints and issues related to water and sewerage bills.
Chairman WASA Punjab said the authority was committed to providing efficient and quality services across all district headquarters in Punjab in line with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision. He said WASA teams had been fully mobilized during the monsoon season and relief camps established to provide immediate assistance to the public.
He said the Punjab government was providing subsidies on water and sewerage bills to reduce the financial burden on citizens. He informed the meeting that households up to three marlas were receiving a subsidy of Rs. 368, while households between three and five marlas were receiving Rs. 438.
The chairman acknowledged WASA’s performance during the current monsoon season but stressed the need for further improvement. He directed MD WASA Attock to ensure continuous field monitoring, speedy resolution of public complaints and improved water supply, sewerage and drainage services.
He also appreciated Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for providing WASA with modern machinery, vehicles and other resources, saying these measures had enhanced the department’s operational capacity and improved public service delivery.
The meeting was attended by parliamentarians, district administration officials, WASA representatives and other dignitaries.
