Quetta: Inspector General of Police Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir said the province’s peace and stability have been secured through the ultimate sacrifices of 1, 195 police officers and personnel who embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
‘These unsung heroes gave their blood so that we may live with dignity. Death is inevitable, but our resolve remains firm to crush the enemies of innocent people and their nefarious designs, ‘ he said while addressing a ceremony marking Police Martyrs’ Day.
The event was attended by Home Minister Balochistan Mir Ziaullah Langove, IG FC (North) Atif Mujtaba, GOC 41 Division Major General Mumtaz Ali, Speaker Provincial Assembly Capt. (R) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, Provincial Ministers Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Raheela Hameed Durrani, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, MPA Mir Ali Madad Jatak, senior police officials including Additional IG Javed Ali Mehr, Additional IG Operations Shehzad Akbar, Additional IG and Commandant Balochistan Constabulary Ashfaq Ahmed, DIG Headquarters Hassan Asad Alvi, DIG Quetta Imran Shaukat, DIG Special Branch Tahir Alauddin, and families of martyrs along with civil society representatives.
IG Muhammad Tahir paid glowing tributes to the fallen heroes, describing them as the nation’s priceless asset. ‘Living nations never forget their heroes. Their courage and bravery remain a guiding light for us, ‘ he said, adding that Balochistan Police has always been resolute in its duties and continues to fight terrorism with unwavering determination. He recalled the sacrifices of officers such as Hamid Shakil, Fayyaz Sunbal, Sajid Mohmand, and Mubarak Shah, who laid down their lives to uphold the national flag and honor.
He saluted the families of martyrs for their patience and pride, assuring them that their welfare, education, health, and employment remain the foremost priority of the police. ‘We stand with them not only in sympathy but with a firm commitment to practical support, ‘ he emphasized.
Highlighting the challenges faced, IG Muhammad Tahir mentioned the sacrifices of officers like Sifat Ghayoor, who accepted martyrdom while serving as Commandant, and the bravery of Mangai martyrs who fought terrorists despite limited resources.
