Rawalpindi: A 12-year-old boy, identified as Sufyan, died after sustaining a gunshot wound in the leg in the limits of City Police Station, Rawalpindi, police said.
According to preliminary investigations, Sufyan was shot by his brother Salman while the two were outside their home. Sufyan later succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Police have taken Salman, who is allegedly involved in the firing, into custody.
A case has been registered at City Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s father. Police said initial investigations found no evidence linking the incident to a wedding ceremony, contrary to reports circulating about the incident. The statements recorded from the victim’s father and the detained suspect also did not indicate any connection to a wedding event.
Police spokesperson said the investigation was underway and the detained suspect would be presented to court with solid evidence after the investigation would be completed.
