Jalalpur pir wala: Federal Minister and Chairman of the Kashmir Committee Rana Qasim Noon on Thursday visited the Sheikh Ismail Umar Pur Flood Embankment Project to review the pace and quality of the ongoing construction work aimed at protecting Jalalpur Pirwala and its adjoining areas from recurring flood threats. Member of the Punjab Assembly Lal Muhammad Joiya, senior district administration officials, officers of the Irrigation Department and other relevant authorities accompanied the federal minister during the inspection.

Speaking to media representatives on the occasion, Rana Qasim Noon said the construction of the flood embankment was a key public welfare initiative of the Punjab government to safeguard the region against future flood disasters. He said the project was being executed on the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and was being completed on a priority basis to provide lasting protection to the local population.

The minister said the embankment, stretching approximately 12.5 kilometres, was being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs1.286 billion. Upon completion, he added, the project would serve as a strong flood protection barrier, safeguarding thousands of acres of agricultural land, numerous villages and the city of Jalalpur Pirwala from the devastating impacts of floods.

Rana Qasim Noon appreciated the efforts of the district administration, the Irrigation Department and all institutions engaged in the execution of the project. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to utilizing all available resources to ensure the protection of people’s lives and property and expressed confidence that the embankment would provide long-term safety and contribute to the socio-economic development and prosperity of the area.

Faisalabad: As per the vision of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, quality healthcare facilities are being provided to the people at their doorsteps.

In this regard, recently posted Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Noman Siddique visited Allied Hospital-I here on Thursday, and made a detailed inspection of various wards and inquired about the medical facilities provided to the patients.

He also confirmed the availability of medicines from the hospital while talking directly to the patients and their attendants.

He reviewed the cleanliness situation in the hospital and issued instructions to the concerned staff.

He also checked the presence of doctors and paramedical staff on duty and warned that a zero tolerance policy is being persuaded for absence or negligence.

The Deputy Commissioner said that making hospitals complaint-free is the top priority of the district administration and all resources are being utilized to achieve this goal.

Burewala: Two people, including a teenager, were killed on the spot when a tractor-trolley collided with a motorcycle near Chak 158-EB on Mian Channu Road in Burewala on Wednesday.

According to Rescue 1122 sources, the victims were identified as 45-year-old Zulfiqar and 14-year-old Mazhar, who were uncle and nephew. The rescue team rushed to the scene after receiving the emergency call but found both victims dead upon arrival.

The bodies were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Burewala, where legal formalities were completed. Police later handed over the bodies to the heirs after completing the necessary legal proceedings.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Rawalpindi: The newly appointed chairpersons of educational boards across Punjab, including Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi, Professor Dr. Iqbal Mehmood, on Thursday expressed their firm commitment to promoting merit, transparency, and modern reforms in the examination system, terming the leadership’s trust as a national trust.

In a joint statement, Chairman BISE Rawalpindi Dr. Iqbal Mehmood expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Punjab and Secretary Higher Education for reposing confidence in them. The chairpersons emphasized that ensuring institutional discipline and implementing modern upgrades across all educational boards is the need of the hour.

They vowed to utilize collective wisdom and coordinated strategies to establish a student-friendly, robust examination system aligned with the Punjab government’s vision to elevate educational standards.

Sukkur: Chairman Sukkur District Council Syed Kumail Haider Shah has dismissed rumors circulating regarding the health of Sindh Provincial Minister for Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah as baseless.

Talikng to media on Thursday, Syed Kumail Haider Shah said that his father Syed Nasir Hussain Shah is in perfect health. “The reports claiming that he is in the ICU are completely false,” he stated.

He further clarified that Syed Nasir Hussain Shah had traveled to Abu Dhabi for a routine medical check up and a pre-scheduled procedure. Alhamdulillah, the procedure was successful and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah is in good health, he added.

Kumail Shah said that the provincial minister will return to Pakistan within a few days. He urged the public not to pay attention to unverified news and rumors. We are grateful to all well-wishers for their prayers, phone calls, and good wishes, he said.

He concluded by saying that Syed Nasir Hussain Shah will continue to serve the people with the same dedication as before.

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) organized a one-day educational and recreational agro-tourism visit to National Tea and High Value Crops Research Institute (NTHRI) Shinkiari Tea Garden, Research Centre Shinkiari and the Hazara University Museum to promote agro-tourism in the province.

The study tour was attended by female students from various educational institutions, families, and individuals interested in tourism.

During the visit, participants explored Pakistan’s largest tea gardens at Shinkiari, Mansehra where they received practical exposure to tea cultivation, research, processing, packaging and production techniques.

Experts of the institute delivered detailed briefings on the importance of indigenous tea production in Pakistan highlighting its economic potential and promising future of tea cultivation as a high value agricultural sector.

The participants also visited Hazara University Museum where they were introduced to rich history, archaeological heritage, cultural legacy and artifacts of the Hazara region.

Later, the visitors enjoyed the scenic beauty of Siran Valley, experiencing its breathtaking landscapes, local culture, traditional way of life and natural attractions. They also purchased locally produced tea, traditional qahwa, honey, and a variety of agricultural and handicraft products supporting local businesses and rural communities.

The participants highly appreciated the initiative taken by KPCTA stating that agro-tourism programs not only introduce young people to modern agricultural practices and research but also promote environmental conservation, sustainable tourism and appreciation of local culture and heritage.

They expressed hope that such educational and recreational tours would continue in future to create greater awareness among youth about tourism, agriculture and natural heritage of KP.
