Sargodha: Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhary on Thursday directed the health department to initiate an intensive crackdown against quacks, unregistered medical stores, and illegal medical practices throughout the district.

Presiding over a performance review meeting of the health department, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized a zero-tolerance policy, stating that those playing with human lives deserve no leniency.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer Health Dr Kashif Navid, the District Health Officer, and other relevant officials.

The DC Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhary instructed drug inspectors to conduct regular field visits and immediately seal centers and properties where illegal medical treatment is being provided under the guise of clinics or medical stores.

He also established clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for drug inspectors and directed them to submit daily performance reports to his office.

Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry further highlighted that the Punjab government has ensured the availability of free medicines, diagnostic facilities, and qualified doctors in government hospitals.

He advised the public to seek treatment from state-owned facilities and ‘Clinics on Wheels’ instead of approaching unqualified individuals.

Furthermore, the meeting reviewed arrangements for dengue prevention and monsoon preparedness, where the DC directed dengue teams to remain active and conduct thorough surveillance of hotspots.

Providing a briefing on recent actions, officials informed that 145 inspections were conducted in June, resulting in 74 challans and the sealing of 74 centers, while 19 more centers were sealed so far this month.

Attock: Police have arrested three men accused of illegally extracting gold from the Indus River in Attock and seized machinery used in the operation, officials said on Wednesday.

The arrests were made during a crackdown by Rango police led by Station House Officer (SHO) Sub-Inspector Ali Zeb Khan against illegal gold mining activities.

The suspects were identified as Muhammad Safdar, son of Muhammad Iqbal, and Muhammad Arsalan, son of Gul Jahan, both residents of Khushab district, along with Matiullah, son of Qabil Khan, a resident of Mianwali district.

Police confiscated mining machinery and other equipment allegedly used in the illegal operation. A criminal case has been registered against the suspects, and further investigation is underway, according to police.

Sialkot: Chairman of Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) Abdul Ghafoor Malik, Vice Chairman SIAL Syed Shahid Raza, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) SIAL have expressed deep sorrow over the tragic crash of a private cargo airline aircraft.

According to a SIAL spokesperson, the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and CEO conveyed their heartfelt condolences over the loss of precious human lives in the accident. They expressed profound grief and sympathy with the families of those who lost their lives.

The SIAL management prayed for eternal peace for the deceased and strength and patience for the bereaved families during this difficult time.

Sargodha: The Excise and Taxation Department Sargodha Division collected a total revenue of Rs 2.0158 billion under various tax heads during the financial year 2025-26, Director Excise Muhammad Ali Naveed said on Thursday.

Sharing the official data, the Director stated that Rs 536.3 million was recovered as property tax across the division.

Providing a district-wise breakdown of property tax, he noted that Rs 363.066 million was collected from Sargodha district, Rs 93.120 million from Khushab district, Rs 41.341 million from Mianwali district and Rs 38.809 million from Bhakkar district.

Regarding motor vehicle token tax, the department generated Rs 1.347 billion in the division, with Sargodha district contributing Rs 737.460 million,Khushab district Rs 254.343 million, Mianwali district Rs 174.392 million and Bhakkar district Rs 180.854 million.

Muhammad Ali Naveed highlighted that Sargodha district remained at the top in overall tax collection with Rs 1.163 billion followed by Khushab district with Rs 369.363 million, Mianwali district with Rs 243.543 million and Bhakkar district with Rs 239.197 million.

The Director Excise and Taxation added that the department was following a proactive strategy to meet revenue targets for the upcoming financial year to ensure a further increase in government exchequer receipts.

Hyderabad: Shaheed Benazirabad Police successfully reunited an eight-year-old missing girl with her family within a few hours, continuing its efforts to assist the public in humanitarian cases.

According to police spokesperson, acting on the directives of SSP Sameer Noor Channa, the police prioritized swift action after receiving information that a minor girl, Nusrat Kalhoro, had gone missing from her home, leaving her family in distress.

The Madadgar 15 police team immediately launched a search operation upon receiving the report. Due to timely response and professional efforts, the child was safely recovered within a few hours.

After recovery, the girl was handed over to her parents and grandmother. Family members expressed relief and gratitude to police for their prompt and sincere efforts. SSP Sameer Noor Channa appreciated the performance of Madadgar 15 team, stating that the duty of police is not limited to controlling crime but also includes serving public and ensuring the safety of women and children.

He reiterated that police remain committed to maintaining peace in the district with public cooperation.

The police have urged citizens to immediately dial 15 in case of emergencies or missing children, assuring that assistance is available at all times.

Bahawalpur: Managing Director (MD) Cholistan Development Authority (CDA) Shahid Hassan Kalyani has directed officials concerned to implement comprehensive measures to mitigate the impact of the ongoing heatwave and ensure uninterrupted availability of drinking water throughout the Cholistan region.

Chairing an emergency meeting at his office to review the heatwave situation, the MD stated that all available resources must be utilised to maintain a continuous supply of potable water and keep water supply lines operational around the clock across all areas of Cholistan.

He instructed officials to ensure clean drinking water for both residents and their livestock, adding that water tankers should be dispatched immediately to areas requiring additional supplies. He warned that strict action would be taken against officials if any locality experienced a disruption in water supply, stressing that water shortages would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He noted that protecting both human lives and livestock from the adverse effects of the extreme heat remains the authority’s highest priority. The Managing Director also directed the launch of a public awareness campaign to educate residents about heatwave safety precautions. He instructed officials to display awareness banners across the region to help inform local communities about preventive measures.

During the meeting, it was decided that the CDA’s engineering and field revenue teams would conduct continuous visits to remote areas of Cholistan to monitor ground conditions closely. Officials were instructed to maintain constant surveillance of the water supply network to ensure uninterrupted service and to respond promptly to any emergency situation. To further strengthen the emergency response, the Managing Director ordered the immediate establishment of a dedicated heatwave control room to coordinate relief efforts and improve communication for the prompt resolution of public complaints. He reiterated that the Cholistan Development Authority would remain on high alert throughout the heatwave and continue taking all necessary measures to safeguard the well-being of residents and their livestock while ensuring the uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water across the desert region.
