Wah cantt: Assistant Commissioner (AC) Taxila, Maria Javed on Friday sealed a liquefied natural gas (LNG) outlet after it was found overcharging customers during a market inspection aimed at implementing government price controls on essential commodities.

The AC carried out inspections of markets and commercial areas in Wah Cantonment to ensure traders were selling essential goods at officially notified prices, the official sources said.

During the inspection, an LNG shop was found charging above the government-approved rate. The outlet was immediately sealed for violating official pricing regulations.

She instructed traders and shopkeepers to strictly comply with the notified price list, warning that authorities would take legal action against anyone involved in profiteering or overcharging.

The AC said the Punjab government would continue its crackdown on price violations without discrimination to protect consumers and ensure essential commodities remain available at officially approved rates.

The district administration also appealed to the public to report cases of overcharging and profiteering as part of efforts to strengthen consumer protection.

Abbottabad: Commissioner Hazara Division Fayyaz Ali Shah on Friday inaugurated a newly constructed monument at Fawara Chowk, marking another step in the district administration’s ongoing efforts to enhance the city’s beauty and strengthen its identity as a tourist destination.

The monument, developed by the District Administration Abbottabad, has been installed at one of the city’s main entry points to create a more attractive and welcoming environment for tourists, visitors, and residents.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Commissioner Fayyaz Ali Shah said that beautification and development projects not only improve the city’s appearance but also contribute significantly to the promotion of tourism and create a positive first impression for those arriving in Abbottabad.

Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram, District Reconciliation Committee (DRC) Chairman Ayaz Saleem Rana, Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad Afrasiab Zubair Handal, TMA Abbottabad TOR Abid Khan, other government officials, and members of civil society attended the ceremony.

According to the district administration, work on various development and beautification initiatives is continuing across Abbottabad to improve public facilities, enhance the city’s tourism profile, and further establish it as a clean, modern, and attractive destination.

Darya khan: Two motorcyclists were killed after a speeding trailer truck struck their motorcycle near Mankera area on Friday, the Rescue 1122 sources said.

The crash occurred on the Jhang-Bhakkar Road near the Girls Degree College, Mankera.

The sources said both riders died at the scene.

The rescue team, highway patrol officers from the Muhammad Yar Wala checkpoint, and local police responded to the scene.

The police arrested the trailer driver and impounded the vehicle as an investigation into the cause of the crash got underway.

The bodies were transferred by Rescue 1122 personnel to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Mankera for legal formalities and identification.

Peshawar: Fisheries Department on Friday released thousands of Mahseer ( fish specie) fishlings in natural water bodies of Khwaja Khizar and Meshti Mela in the tribal District of Orakzai.

The Fisheries Department said that it marks the first organized Mahseer stocking initiative in the district and the merged tribal districts.

The stocking was carried out on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Orakzai Yousaf Ali as part of efforts to conserve prized freshwater fish species, restore aquatic ecosystems and promote sustainable fisheries.

The initiative aims to protect the Mahseer population, enhance biodiversity, maintain ecological balance and create opportunities for eco-tourism and community based fisheries in the region.

The district administration said the project could contribute to environmental conservation while supporting local livelihoods through fisheries development and promoting eco-tourism if the water bodies are adequately protected.

The fisheries department urged the residents to refrain from illegal fishing practices including the use of explosives and poisonous substances and cooperate in protecting natural water resources to ensure the survival and sustainable growth of Mahseer and other aquatic species.

Sargodha: Sargodhga police have made security arrangements for observing Youm-e-Shahadat Hazrat Imam Zain-ul-Abidin on July 11 and decided to deploy more than 1200 security men to provide security to mourning processions and Majalisis here.

According to police spokesman, main procession will be held from Block No 7 and conclude at the same block after passing through several places.

Over all, 56 processions and 80 Majalisis will be held on the day. DPO Sargodhga Suhaib Ashraf himself would monitor the security arrangements.

Faisalabad: Four-week training for 15 sugarcane professionals of African countries arranged by Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics Dept, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) in collaboration with Sugarcane Research and Development Board has concluded at Center for Advanced Studies in Agriculture and Food Security, UAF.

UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali while addressing the concluding session said that such collaborations are the need of time to tackle agrarian challenges.

He said that in Pakistan, sugarcane provides raw material to the 2nd largest agro-based sugar industry. The country sugarcane production increased by 6.2 percent to 89.45 million tonnes in 2025-26, driven by a 3.7 percent improvement, he added.

SRDB CEO Dr Shahid Afghan; Chief Scientist, Sugarcane Research Institute, Ayub Research Dr Kashif Munir, and Prof. Dr Asif Tanveer (consultant SRDB) while that training sessions provide comprehensive skills to the participants for addressing the sugarcane challenges.

They stressed the need to maximizing sugarcane and sugar productivity through high-yield varieties and implementing the latest techniques.
