Sialkot: The closing ceremony of the Thesis Display 2026, organised by the Department of Art and Design, Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS), in collaboration with the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), was held at the SCCI.

The ceremony was attended by President SCCI Syed Ahtesham Mazhar, Senior Vice President (SVP) SCCI Muhammad Murad Arshad and Vice Chancellor (VC) Government Collage Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir along with faculty members, students, and members of the business community.

During the ceremony, President SCCI Syed Ahtesham Mazhar distributed prizes, shields, and certificates among the outstanding students in recognition of their creativity, innovation, and exceptional performance displayed during the exhibition.

Peshawar: Four terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by police in the Khattak dam area of Karak district early Friday, police said.

According to Karak police, the operation was launched at around 5: 00 a.m. on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.

The operation was carried out jointly by police teams from Karak and Kohat districts. As the police moved in, the terrorists, armed with automatic weapons, opened fire on the raiding party, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.

Police retaliated effectively, resulting in the killing of all four terrorists.

The terrorists were reportedly involved in the killing of several police officers and personnel in previous attacks.

Following the encounter, security forces launched a search operation and cordoned off the surrounding area to ensure no accomplices had escaped.

Authorities were also collecting further details to confirm the identities of the killed terrorists and verify their criminal records.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.

Rawalpindi: The Punjab School Education Department on Thursday directed all relevant officers across Rawalpindi and the province to ensure effective dissemination of information regarding the Turkish language programme (KATIP).

According to official instructions, Divisional Directors (Elementary Education) and Chief Executive Officers of District Education Authorities have been asked to ensure that all subordinate offices, educational institutions and relevant officials are fully informed about the programme and its guidelines.

The department emphasized that timely communication and strict implementation of the directives must be ensured so that eligible candidates could fully benefit from the opportunity.

The KATIP programme aims to enhance the professional capacity of education officers and experts, promote familiarity with the Turkish language and to further strengthen educational and cultural ties between Pakistan and Turkiye.

It also offers participants an opportunity to benefit from international academic exposure, knowledge exchange and professional experience.

The department further directed the authorities to ensure prompt and effective compliance with the issued instructions to achieve the desired objectives of the programme.

Sargodha: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Sargodha Circle-I Division on Friday recovered Rs.191.9 million from power defaulters and registered 149 cases against electricity thieves during the financial year 2025-26.

According to XEN FESCO Sargodha Circle-I Haroon Ahmed Gujjar,the company installed 5,673 new connections and saved 3,331,585 electricity units after taking action against power theft and reducing line losses.

Talking to the media,the XEN said the division achieved a 100.96 per cent recovery ratio during the year.

He said FESCO resolved 96 per cent of public complaints received through the Customer Complaint Management System (CCMS),adding that the company was taking steps to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers in line with federal government policies.

The presentation reflected the department’s commitment to innovation, quality education, and the professional development of its students.

The event provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their academic accomplishments while strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.

Rawalpindi: City Traffic Police Murree has chalked out a comprehensive traffic management plan for the annual 25th Muharram procession in the Tret Syedan area on the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Murree, Munir Ahmed Hashmi.

A special diversion plan has been put in place to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, strengthen security arrangements, and minimize inconvenience to residents and visitors during the procession.

As part of the plan, the Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir Road at Tret Syedan will remain closed to all types of traffic from 3: 00 p.m. to 12: 00 midnight on Saturday, July 11. Traffic in and around the procession route will be diverted to alternate roads, while traffic police officers and personnel will be deployed at key locations to assist commuters and tourists.

City Traffic Police has advised residents, tourists, and other travelers to avoid unnecessary travel on the Tret Syedan Road during the procession, use alternative routes, and plan their journeys in advance to prevent delays.

The spokesperson also urged the public to cooperate with traffic police, follow official instructions, and help maintain order to ensure the peaceful conclusion of the religious gathering while minimizing disruption to traffic.
