Sargodha: Chief Executive Officer Health Authority Dr Kashif Naveed said that a total of 74 illegal health centres were sealed during 145 inspections which were conducted during the month of June.

Talking to reporter on Friday, he said that over violation a total of 74 challans were registered in the month of June 2026.

CEO Health Authority Dr Kashif Naveed said that during current month a total of 65 inspections were conducted and 19 challans were registered while 19 illegal health centers were sealed.

“The health department has been initiated intensive crackdown against quacks, unregistered medical stores, and illegal medical practices throughout the district’ ‘he said.

He termed quackery a serious social and medical menace and urged the the public to play their roles in its eradication.

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati has convened an important meeting of all parliamentary leaders on Monday, July 13, to review the proposed Assembly Members’ Privileges Bill following consultations with CM Muhammad Sohail Afridi and concerns raised by civil society.

The meeting will be held in the Speaker’s Chamber at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

According to the Speaker’s office, participants will undertake a detailed review of various provisions of the proposed bill while also considering opinions, recommendations and reservations expressed by civil society, journalists and other stakeholders.

The exercise aims to ensure that the proposed legislation is aligned with public expectations, constitutional requirements and democratic principles.

Parliamentary leaders of all political parties represented in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly will attend the meeting.

Provincial Minister for Information Shafi Ullah Jan, Provincial Minister for Law Aftab Alam and Chief Whip Akbar Ayub Khan will also participate.

The participants are expected to exchange views on different clauses of the proposed bill and strive to evolve a consensus on the future course of action.

Speaker Babar Saleem Swati said the Assembly was fundamentally the House of the people and every piece of legislation enacted by it should promote public interest, transparency and democratic values.

He said that whenever concerns or recommendations regarding proposed legislation were raised by different segments of society, it was the responsibility of Parliament to give them due consideration and, through consultation with all stakeholders, enact laws that reflected public aspirations and complied with constitutional principles.

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has recovered 3.6 kilogram hashish and arrested three including a lady smuggler in two separate operations here Saturday.

According to details, the first operation was conducted at Hayatabad Gol Chowk where a female was intercepted and searched by a lady constable leading to the recovery of 2,400 grams of hashish from her possession.

In the second incident, excise department recovered 1200 grams of hashish during checking on motorway. Two persons identified as Nasir and Naveed were arrested on the spot.

Cases have been registered against the arrested and investigation is underway.

Sargodha: Chairman Zakat and Ushr Council Punjab and Member Provincial Assembly of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Rana Munawar Ghous Khan on Friday held an open court (Khuli Katchehri) at Municipal Committee Office Sillanwali, where he listened to public complaints and assured their prompt resolution.

A large number of residents attended the session and presented issues related to civic amenities and personal grievances.

The MPA issued on the spot instructions to concerned departments and reiterated his commitment to addressing public issues on a priority basis.

Speaking on the occasion, Rana Munawar Ghous Khan said Pakistan Muslim League-N(PML-N) governments at the federal and provincial levels were pursuing development projects focused on public welfare and prosperity.

He said Chief Minister(CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz was taking steps for public welfare, adding that multiple development schemes were underway across the province.

He further said efforts were being made to develop Sargodha district as a model district, highlighting ongoing projects including road construction and rehabilitation, hospital upgradation, establishment of the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology, the Green Bus service and sewerage and development works in Sillanwali tehsil.

He said these initiatives reflected the government’s commitment to public service and development.

PML-N Tehsil President Rana Nadeem Ahmad and Tehsil Youth Coordinator Rana Kaleem were also present on the occasion.

Sargodha: Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Friday directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert and complete precautionary arrangements to tackle the ongoing heatwave, expected monsoon rains and potential urban flooding across the district.

According to the spokesperson for the DC office here, the DC instructed all assistant commissioners to personally supervise the daily desilting and cleaning of drains, rainwater channels and water bodies, ensuring the immediate removal of encroachments and obstructions to prevent waterlogging in urban areas during heavy rainfall.

He directed WASA, the Municipal Corporation, municipal committees and other local government institutions to keep all machinery, suction pumps, desilting equipment, water bowsers and operational staff fully prepared to ensure prompt drainage of rainwater.

Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry also ordered Rescue 1122, the Health Department, Irrigation Department, Police, Civil Defence, Livestock Department, Highways Department and other concerned agencies to keep emergency response teams on standby with all necessary equipment and machinery available for immediate deployment in case of any emergency.

He emphasised continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations, low-lying areas, riverine belts, seasonal streams and other potential flood points, while directing that the district control room and all departmental control rooms remain operational round the clock with effective inter-departmental coordination.

The DC further instructed the Health Department to ensure the availability of heatstroke counters, medicines, oral rehydration salts (ORS), cold drinking water and adequate medical staff at all government hospitals and health centres to deal with heat-related emergencies.

The Livestock Department was directed to ensure the provision of clean drinking water, fodder and vaccines for animals during the prevailing weather conditions.

Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has sought a response from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the relevant authorities on a petition filed by hundreds of employees of the Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) seeking regularisation of their services and the introduction of a service structure.

Issuing a short order, the court directed the provincial government and WSSP authorities to submit their replies within two weeks.

Counsel for the petitioners informed the court that WSSP employees still had no approved service structure and that more than 1,800 workers had been deprived of the facility for several years.

The petitioners’ counsel argued that a similar institution in Punjab had already introduced a service structure and completed the process of regularising its employees, whereas the issues facing WSSP employees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained unresolved.

After hearing the preliminary arguments, the court sought replies from the provincial government and WSSP authorities and adjourned further proceedings in the case.
