Kohat: A young boy drowned after falling into a pond in the Rasi Qasaba area of Kohat on Saturday, prompting a rescue operation by emergency responders.

The victim was identified as Muhammad Abdul Mateen, son of Abid Hussain and a resident of Shakardara. Rescue 1122 teams were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident and carried out a recovery operation.

The tragedy comes days after the Kohat district administration imposed a three-month ban on swimming and boating in major water bodies, including dams, rivers, canals and rainwater ponds, under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C.), citing concerns over rising drowning incidents during the summer.

Authorities have urged the public to comply with the restrictions and avoid entering prohibited water bodies to help prevent further loss of life.

Sialkot: Rashid Latif Khan University Registrar Dr Ayaz Qaiser on Saturday called on Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Syed Ahtesham Mazhar and discussed ways to enhance cooperation between academia and industry in the healthcare and education sectors.

According to a statement, Dr.Qaiser briefed the SCCI president about the 1st National Health and Education Summit, which will be held on August 29, 2026 at the Lahore Expo Center.

He said the summit would bring together representatives from the healthcare,education, industry and public sectors of Sialkot and Lahore to discuss policy measures for developing Pakistan into a global hub for skilled healthcare professionals.

Syed Ahtesham Mazhar appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions, industry and the healthcare sector to strengthen human resource development and contribute to economic growth.

Chiniot: Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan on Saturday inspected the railway safety embankment along the River Chenab to assess its preparedness for a possible flood situation and review measures aimed at protecting critical infrastructure.

During the visit, railway officials briefed the deputy commissioner on the embankment’s structural condition, its capacity to withstand water pressure, vulnerable sections and the safety measures currently in place. The inspection focused on ensuring the embankment’s readiness to cope with any increase in river flow during the monsoon season.

Ayesha Rizwan directed the relevant authorities to maintain continuous monitoring of the embankment, pay special attention to sensitive locations and keep machinery, manpower and other emergency resources on standby. She also instructed officials to ensure effective coordination among departments and maintain uninterrupted communication to respond swiftly to any emergency.

The deputy commissioner said safeguarding the lives and property of residents remained the district administration’s foremost priority. She urged all concerned departments to remain on high alert and ensure comprehensive preparedness to effectively deal with any potential flooding along the River Chenab.

Dera ismail khan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFSA) carried out an inspection of milk shops in the Tank Road Bypass area of Dera Ismail Khan as part of its ongoing campaign against the sale of adulterated milk.

During the operation, the food safety team inspected various milk outlets and tested milk samples on the spot using a mobile food testing laboratory to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

According to the officials, legal action was taken against violators, including the imposition of fines for breaches of food safety regulations. Around 300 litres of adulterated milk were discarded on the spot to prevent its sale to consumers.

The official further said that one milk shop was sealed over serious violations of food safety laws, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and hygienic food products for the public.

The KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority urged milk sellers to strictly comply with food safety regulations, warning that strict legal action would continue against those found involved in adulteration or other violations.

Sargodha: Cricket trials for the Chief Minister Punjab Cricket Champions League 2026 were successfully completed at the Tehsil Sports Complex, Sargodha.

According to the spokesperson for District sports department here on Saturday, the trials were supervised by Divisional Sports Officer Rana Nadeem Anjum and District Sports Officer Sargodha Saima Manzoor.

A special talent evaluation panel from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), comprising former Test cricketers Muhammad Talha, Imran Ali, Samiullah Niazi and Muhammad Nawaz, assessed the players’ performances.

Assistant Director Mubashir Shaheen Bhatti from the Directorate General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab attended the event as an observer.

Young cricketers from all four districts of Sargodha Division-Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali and Bhakkar-participated enthusiastically, displaying their skills in the selection process. District Sports Officers from Khushab, Bhakkar and Mianwali were also present.

Larkana: A district-level planning meeting for the Booster Dose fIPV Campaign was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Kamran Mustaq Shaikh District Kamber Shahdadkot, and facilitated by the District Health Officer (DHO) , Dr. Gulzar Ahmed Tunio Kamber along with the DEOC core team on Saturday.

Social mobilization strategies and the communication plan were reviewed and finalized to enhance community awareness and participation.

Critical operational aspects, including crisis management, cold chain management, and other campaign implementation matters, were discussed in detail.

A tentative timeline of campaign activities was reviewed and finalized in coordination with the District Polio Eradication Committee (DPEC) to ensure timely and effective execution.The meeting concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to ensure high-quality implementation of the Booster Dose fIPV Campaign across District Kamber.
