Attock: Authorities in Attock have pledged to intensify action against illegal medicines and unlicensed medical practitioners, with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Aniel Saeed announcing a strict zero-tolerance policy to protect public health. The commitment was made during a high-level meeting held on Saturday to review enforcement measures against the sale of prohibited drugs and quackery across the district.
The meeting, attended by senior health officials, including District Headquarters Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Asfandyar Bukhari, Dr. Jawad Elahi, deputy district health officers, the District Drug Controller and representatives of relevant departments, assessed the situation regarding illegal medical stores, unregistered medicines and ongoing operations against quacks. Officials also briefed participants on inspections, legal actions and challenges facing enforcement teams.
Addressing the meeting, Aniel Saeed said the crackdown was being carried out under the directives of the Punjab government and the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mudassar Ahmad Shah. He said no leniency would be shown to individuals involved in the sale of illegal, expired or prohibited medicines or the practice of quackery, warning that violators would face strict legal action without discrimination. He also directed health authorities to intensify inspections of medical stores, clinics and other healthcare facilities while strengthening joint operations against unlicensed practitioners.
The meeting reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to ensuring safe, lawful and quality healthcare services for residents. Officials pledged to maintain close coordination between the Health Department, Drug Control Administration and district administration to eliminate illegal medical practices, uphold the rule of law in the health sector and safeguard public health across Attock.
