Sialkot: The district administration dismantled more than 300 confiscated illegal mini fuel dispensers during the ongoing crackdown on unregulated petrol sales.

According to the spokesperson here on Monday, the seized dispensers were being destroyed at the District Civil Defence Office under the supervision of Municipal Corporation and Civil Defence officials. He said the dismantling process would be completed within 48 hours, while the scrap would be auctioned and the proceeds deposited into the national exchequer.

The district administration warned that illegal fuel sellers would face strict legal action, including registration of cases, fines, arrests and confiscation of equipment, and urged the public to purchase fuel only from licensed petrol stations.

Sialkot: Syed Ahtesham Mazhar, President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) met a delegation from Pakistan Railways Headquarters, Lahore, led by Muhammad Hafeezullah, CEO/Senior General Manager, to discuss facilitating the transportation of export and import cargo through Pakistan Railways from Karachi Port to Sialkot and adjoining destinations.

The meeting was held at SCCI, brought together SCCI office bearers, members of the Departmental Committee on Shipping/ Dryport/ Airport/ Railway/ Transportation, and other stakeholders from the logistics and export sectors.

Participants exchanged valuable suggestions on strengthening rail-based freight services, improving logistics efficiency, and enhancing trade facilitation.

Rawalpindi: Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Division Anum Sher has directed police officers to intensify operations against proclaimed offenders involved in murder cases and take strict action against their facilitators.

Chairing a meeting of SDPOs and SHOs at the Saddar Office, she emphasized swift arrests, effective investigations, and the timely disposal of pending cases to strengthen law enforcement and ensure justice.

During the meeting, SP Anum Sher reviewed the progress of under-investigation cases with each SHO individually and instructed officers to trace and arrest the accused without delay. She directed police to ensure the prompt disposal of pending cases and maintain close monitoring of serious investigations.

The SP also ordered an effective crackdown against drug traffickers, directing SDPOs to personally supervise investigations in narcotics cases.

She further instructed police to include previously convicted offenders in the investigation of robbery, dacoity, and theft cases and keep them under strict surveillance.

Emphasizing accountability, SP Anum Sher directed circle officers to monitor the progress of serious cases on a daily basis, stating that professional investigation and effective prosecution are essential for securing convictions.

She also instructed SHOs to resolve the issues of citizens visiting police stations on a priority basis, reiterating that maintaining law and order and ensuring justice for the public remain the police’s foremost responsibilities, for which all available resources are being utilized.

Multan: An electrician lost his life after suffering electric shocks while doing electrical work at Pul Monde Wala on Nawabpur road Multan on Monday.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, a young electrician was busy in work at Nawabpur road when suddenly he received electric shocks.

Emergency teams responded promptly to the incident and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the scene before shifting the victim to Nishtar Hospital. Despite the rescue team’s efforts, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Attock: Two people-a young woman and a 29-year-old man-were found dead in separate suspected suicide incidents in Pindigheb tehsil on Monday, police said, adding that investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding both deaths.

Police said the young woman was found dead at her residence in the Nakka Ghulam Shah area of Pindigheb. Officers responded to the scene after receiving information about the incident and shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for a post-mortem examination and other medico-legal formalities. A pistol recovered from the scene has been taken into custody as evidence.

In a separate incident, Sardar Zeeshan Akhtar, 29, a resident of Dandi who had been living in Pindigheb city, died after allegedly ingesting poisonous pills. He was taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in critical condition but succumbed despite medical treatment, according to police.

Police said preliminary inquiries in both cases are examining whether domestic disputes may have been contributing factors. However, officials emphasized that the causes and circumstances of the deaths have not been confirmed and will be determined following the completion of post-mortem examinations, medico-legal procedures and the ongoing investigations.

Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Salman Ghani on Monday directed the authorities concerned to expedite beautification work and complete the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project at the earliest to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across the city.

He issued the directions while chairing an introductory and review meeting on the RRR beautification project and Signal-Free Corridor projects at the Commissioner’s Office.

During the meeting, officials briefed participants on the progress of the 38.3-kilometre RRR project, stating that overall physical work had reached 98 per cent.

Officials stated that construction of the main carriageway, flyovers, subways, and other civil works is substantially complete. Additionally, all subways, nullah bridges, interchange bridges, river bridges, and railway bridges are finished. Workers have completed the installation of kerbstones, road barriers, road markings, signboards, berms, and streetlights, leaving only the toll plaza unfinished.

The meeting was informed that the project was being executed under the Punjab Ring Road Authority and that a dedicated policing and management system would be established to ensure efficient traffic management, enhanced security and modern administrative operations.

The commissioner directed the authorities to accelerate plantation of three rows of trees on both sides of the Ring Road and complete landscaping with high-quality grass and other environmentally friendly features.

Ghani said the completion of the Ring Road would significantly reduce traffic congestion in Rawalpindi by diverting heavy vehicles from the city’s main roads, including G.T. Road, Peshawar Road and Murree Road.

He said the project would help reduce travel time, fuel consumption and air pollution while providing safer, faster and more convenient travel facilities to the public.

The commissioner also instructed the departments concerned to complete the remaining work without delay and take all necessary measures to provide immediate relief to residents affected by the project.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Zainia Humayun, Director Development Syed Nazarat Ali Shah, Additional Commissioner (Revenue) and heads of the relevant departments.
