Khanewal: Police arrested two suspects on Tuesday after a video showing a young man being beaten with sticks went viral on social media, officials said.

The incident occurred in the Kot Islam area under Haveli Kalanwala police station, where three men allegedly assaulted Muhammad Ali Sher with clubs and sticks. A case was registered against the accused under Sections 324, 506, 292, 148 and 149 on the complainant’s request.

District Police Officer (DPO) Khanewal Muhammad Abid took immediate notice of the viral video and ordered the arrest of those involved. Police said prompt action led to the arrest of two suspects, while efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining accused.

The accused have been identified as Ghazanfar Abbas, Qasim, Sona and others named in the First Information Report (FIR).

The DPO said no leniency would be shown to those who take the law into their own hands, adding that protection of citizens’ life and property would be ensured at all costs. He vowed strict legal action against the accused in accordance with the law.

Police said here on Tuesday that the raiding teams of different police stations raided at various localities and nabbed 35 criminals.

The accused were identified as– Aslam,Nouman,Sultan,Shamus,Shamsahir,Saqib,Hassan, Mehmood, Tipu, Taimoor, Majeed, Sarwar, Saqlain, Sibtain Khan, Anjum. They were wanted by police in several heinous cases including murder, attempt of murder, robberies, dacoities, cattle theft, motorcycle lifting and others.

Police also recovered stolen motorcycles, cattle, heroin, opium, hashish, ice, and weapons from their possession.

Sukkur: In a major crackdown on illegal hoarding, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shikarpur, Shakeel Ahmed Abro led a joint operation in Madeji city on Tuesday sealing several warehouses and shops found stockpiling wheat.

The raids were carried out by a team comprising DC Shikarpur Shakeel Ahmed Abro, Assistant Commissioner Garhi Yasin Shaista Sindhu, Mukhtiarkar Shaukat Ali Bhangwar, District Food Controller Shikarpur Zulfiqar Pathan and officials from the Food and Revenue departments.

According to officials, the operation targeted unregistered and illegal warehouses, mills, and retail shops. Authorities recovered thousands of wheat bags that had been hoarded in violation of government regulations. The premises involved were sealed on the spot.

Speaking to the media after the raids, DC Shakeel Ahmed Abro said the seized wheat will be moved to government godowns. The traders will be compensated at the official government-fixed rate, he stated.

The DC warned that the district administration has adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward hoarding. Operations against illegal stockpiling will continue across Shikarpur to ensure market stability and protect consumers from artificial price hikes, he added. The action comes amid provincial efforts to curb wheat hoarding and ensure adequate supply ahead of the upcoming season.
