Peshawar: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) has imposed a strict ban on unnecessary welcoming ceremonies, flower bouquets, and celebratory activities for newly appointed officers, particularly Station House Officers (SHOs).

According to a police spokesperson, formal directives have been issued to all police stations across the district.

He said that field postings must be viewed strictly as a public service responsibility rather than an honorary or celebratory event.

The CCPO reiterated that foremost priority for all officers must remain crime prevention, arrest of criminals, maintenance of law and order, and protection of citizens’ lives and property.

Furthermore, directives explicitly prohibit recording or uploading videos of officer postings to social media platforms.

The administration clarified police performance will be judged solely on practical results, operational capacity, and effective public service, rather than personal projection or grand receptions.

He warned that any violation of these orders will be dealt with severely, and disciplinary action will be taken against non-compliant officials under prevailing rules and regulations.

The crackdown stems from reports that certain influential individuals, land grabbers, and facilitators of criminal elements were using these welcoming ceremonies to curry favor with newly posted SHOs, prompting decision to strictly enforce these new regulations and dismantle such networks.

Peshawar: A delegation of World Health Organization (WHO) on Saturday visited Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Headquarters to review the province’s emergency response system and operational capabilities.

The delegation was welcomed by Director General Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Fahad, Director Administration, Director Operations, Director Planning and District Emergency Officer Peshawar.

According to a statement issued by Rescue 1122, the delegation was briefed on the organization’s emergency response system, operational capacity, training standards and the ambit of emergency services.

Officials informed the delegation that Rescue 1122 delivers round-the-clock emergency services in situations of medical emergencies, road traffic accidents, fire incidents, building collapses, floods, water rescue, natural disasters, urban search and rescue operations and other emergency conditions.

Delegation also toured various operational stations where they were given briefs about modern rescue equipment, ambulances, firefighting vehicles, search and rescue tools, water rescue equipment, emergency medical services and community safety programs.

A live emergency response demonstration was also conducted showcasing the complete rescue operation following a simulated emergency. The exercise included securing the incident site, search and rescue procedures, casualty evacuation, first aid, triage, emergency medical management, inter-agency coordination and the transportation of injured victims to hospitals.

The WHO delegation commended the professionalism, rapid response and effective teamwork demonstrated by Rescue 1122 personnel during the exercise.

WHO delegation appreciated Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s professional capabilities, advanced emergency response system, high training standards, and public service delivery.

The delegation also expressed confidence that cooperation between the World Health Organization and Rescue 1122 would be further strengthened in the areas of emergency medical response, disaster management and institutional capacity building.

Hyderabad: A welcoming ceremony was organized by the Sindh Language Authority (SLA) in honour of children and teachers at Dr N.A. Baloch Hall the other day.

Hyderabad: The National Disability and Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan, in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Government of Sindh, has provided assistive devices to three brothers with physical disabilities from the underprivileged Thakur Hindu family in Moro.

Akash Thakur, Sagar Thakur, and Sajin Thakur have been living with physical disabilities and faced significant mobility challenges, limiting their independence and daily activities. Responding to their request, NDF Pakistan delivered one electric wheelchair and two manual wheelchairs directly to their doorstep, enabling them to move with greater dignity, comfort, and independence.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abid Lashari, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, President of NDF Pakistan, stated that assistive devices are essential for empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring their equal participation in society. He emphasized that access to mobility is a fundamental right that opens doors to education, healthcare, employment, and social inclusion.

Lashari expressed his sincere appreciation to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Government of Sindh, for its continued partnership and commitment to improving the lives of persons with disabilities across Sindh. He noted that through this collaboration, hundreds of persons with disabilities have received wheelchairs, tri-motor bikes, hearing aids, white canes, walkers, CP chairs, and other assistive devices that have transformed their lives.

NDF Pakistan remains committed to working with the Government of Sindh, development partners, and the private sector to promote disability inclusion, rehabilitation services, accessibility, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, ensuring that no one is left behind.

Gujrat: The Gujrat Traffic Police organized a traffic awareness session for students at the Government College of Technology for Women to promote road safety and awareness of traffic laws.

According to police sources, DSP Traffic Gujrat Zaheer Ahmed Janjua delivered a lecture on road safety and urged students to follow traffic rules to help prevent road accidents.

He also briefed the students on the benefits and procedure for obtaining a Juvenile Driving Permit and encouraged eligible students to complete the legal requirements before driving.

The DSP emphasized that observing traffic laws and adopting responsible road behaviour were essential for ensuring the safety of all road users.

Sargodha: Sajid Shaheed Police Station on Saturday busted a three-member gang allegedly involved in robbery, cattle theft and other serious crimes.

According to a police spokesman, raiding teams conducted operations in different areas and arrested three suspects, recovering valuables worth millions of rupees.

The recovered items were handed over to their owners under the supervision of ASP City Waqar Ahmed, the spokesman added.
