Sargodha: Additional District and Sessions Judge Bhalwal Haider Ali Arif on Saturday awarded life imprisonment to three accused in a murder case.

According to the prosecution, accused Umar Irshad, in connivance with Irshad Ahmed and Shehbaz Munshi, had killed their fellow villager Sajid Mehdi following an exchange of harsh words. A case was registered at Bhalwal Sadar Police Station.

Police presented challans before the court for trial, and after hearing arguments from both sides, the court found all three accused guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs1 million each under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including Section 302.

Lodhran: A balloting ceremony was held at Kanju Hall, Lodhran, under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Clean Air Programme Phase-II to select farmers eligible for subsidized agricultural machinery.

The draw for Super Seeders was chaired by Assistant Commissioner Lodhran Farukh Ullah Khan and attended by Deputy Director Agriculture Engineering Multan Hidayat Ullah, Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Malik Zafar, Assistant Director Ahmad Raza and a large number of farmers.

Through a transparent balloting process, 75 farmers from across the district were selected to receive Super Seeders at a 60 percent subsidy under the programme.

Addressing the ceremony, Assistant Commissioner Farukh Ullah Khan said the Punjab government was taking measures for farmers’ welfare and agricultural development. He said Super Seeders and Happy Seeders were being provided under the Clean Air Programme to discourage crop residue burning and improve soil fertility.

Larkana: Sindh Provincial Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has stated that the end of the 15-year bloody tribal feud in Larkana is a historic achievement by the Larkana Police.

Notorious criminals from the Jeho and Dhani tribes, including proclaimed offenders with head money on them, have surrendered before the law.

Twenty-eight individuals from both tribes laid down their weapons and turned themselves in to the legal authorities. All the accused will face the courts.

He said that 25 precious lives were lost and numerous individuals were injured during the 15-year enmity. Now, peace has defeated hatred. Due to the bloody conflict, 2,000 acres of agricultural land had been rendered barren and three villages were destroyed. Today, normal life has begun to be restored. The impartial and indiscriminate action by the Larkana Police brought both tribes onto the path of reconciliation and the rule of law.

The Sindh Home Minister said that the Sindh Police not only arrested the criminals but also ended an enmity that spanned generations. This serves as a clear message to anti-peace elements that no one is above the law in Sindh.

He praised the courageous leadership, sound judgment, and professional strategy of the SSP Larkana, calling it highly commendable. The Larkana Police have proven that power lies with the law, not with the gun.

The reconciliation between the Jeho and Dhani tribes is a historic success for the Sindh Police and a victory for public trust. Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar said that the SSP Larkana and the entire police team deserve accolades for establishing peace. Where there is peace, development will follow. The writ of the state will be upheld at all costs. The restoration of peace in Larkana is the fruit of the effective vision and robust strategy of the Sindh government and the La4kana Police.

Havelian: Residents of Havelian have expressed concern over the slow pace of reconstruction work on the Ayub Bridge and urged former federal minister and Pakistan Muslim League-N Provincial General Secretary Murtaza Javed Abbasi to intervene for the timely completion of the project.

Residents said the reconstruction work on the Havelian Ayub Bridge has slowed considerably, causing inconvenience to commuters and raising concerns about further delays.

They appealed to Murtaza Javed Abbasi to take notice of the situation, question the contractor responsible for the project and ensure that construction work is expedited.

According to the residents, although some progress was made about a month ago, there has been little visible development since then. They claimed that the contractor has failed to maintain the required pace of work despite the project’s importance.

The residents also urged the former federal minister to personally monitor the reconstruction process, stating that the bridge is a vital link for the area. They expressed concern that, based on the current pace of work, the project is unlikely to be completed within the timeframe set by the government and may require at least another year for completion.

They called on the relevant authorities to take immediate steps to speed up the construction work and ensure the bridge is completed as early as possible.

Khanewal: A body of a man was recovered from canal near Kabirwala,here on Saturday. According to Rescue 1122,the deceased identified as Ahmed(55),r/o Mastpur,was mentally challenged. Rescue 1122 personnel took his body from the canal and handed it over heirs.

Dera ismail khan: Dera Ismail Khan Police on Saturday arrested the main suspect allegedly involved in the murder of a man identified as Umar Farooq and recovered the weapon used in the crime, police said.

According to a police spokesman, the suspect, Muhammad Tayyab, son of Zafar Hussain and a resident of Basti Maheer, was arrested during an operation conducted by Cantt Police after being traced through modern investigative and scientific techniques.

Police also recovered a 30-bore pistol, believed to have been used in the murder, from the suspect’s possession.

The operation was carried out on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ismail Khan, Ziauddin Ahmed, under the supervision of SP City Muhammad Nauman and the leadership of DSP City Saghir Shah Gilani along with the Station House Officer (SHO) Cantt.

The DPO appreciated the performance of the SHO Cantt and the investigation team for successfully arresting the suspect and recovering the murder weapon. He directed police officers to continue taking strict action against criminals to strengthen public confidence in the police.

Police said further investigation into the case was underway.
