Bahawalpur: The body of a youth who drowned in Sutlej river near Mangwani Pattan has been recovered on Sunday. According to Rescue 1122, a 18-year-old youth who has yet to be identified had drowned in the Sutlej River near Mangwani Pattan. Rescue-1122, the District Control Room received information started the search of body. The body has been handed over to the heirs.

Abbottabad: The Board of Governors (BoG) of Ayub Medical Teaching Institution (AMTI), Abbottabad, has approved a series of major reforms aimed at improving patient care, upgrading hospital infrastructure, and enhancing employee welfare.

The decisions were taken during a meeting chaired by BoG Chairman Prof. Dr. Abid Jamil.

The Board approved the PC-1 for a state-of-the-art Emergency Building, funds for the phased renovation of Ayub Teaching Hospital, revised pay scales with salary increases for employees, and new service structures for doctors, nurses, IT, and support staff.

The BoG also approved the establishment of a Day Care Centre for employees, recruitment of 40 additional nurses, upgradation of the Dental Section into a College of Dentistry, creation of new faculty positions in specialized medical fields, and the operationalization of modern sterilization and laundry facilities.

It further sanctioned legal action against those spreading malicious propaganda against the institution and approved the hiring of a professional media consultancy firm.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Abid Jamil said the decisions reflect the Board’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare, modernizing the institution, and improving employee welfare, adding that the reforms would further strengthen AMTI’s position as a leading healthcare institution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Rawalpindi: City Police have arrested a man for allegedly making a fake robbery call on the emergency helpline 15 regarding a shop robbery.

According to police, officers reached the spot after receiving the emergency call and conducted an inquiry.

During the investigation, it was found that no robbery had taken place, while the caller was involved in a dispute with his brothers over a jointly owned shop.

City Police registered a case against the suspect for making a false emergency call and arrested him.

SP Rawal Saad Arshad said the emergency helpline 15 is a vital facility provided to citizens for assistance during emergencies, and strict action would be taken against those who misuse it.

Rawalpindi: Police have arrested a proclaimed offender (POs) allegedly involved in a theft at a hotel and recovered a stolen motorcycle and cash amounting to Rs30,000 from his possession.

According to police, the suspect, who was employed at the hotel, committed the theft and fled after the incident. Following the case registration, Saddar Barooni Police used technical and human intelligence sources to trace and arrest the accused.

The recovered items were taken into police custody as part of the investigation.

SP Saddar Anum Sher said the arrested proclaimed offender would be presented before the court with solid evidence to ensure legal proceedings against him.

Rawalpindi Police reiterated their commitment to take strict action against criminal elements and ensuring the protection of citizens’ property.

Sujawal: Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi visited the residence of late Lal Bux Jatoi in Jhok Sharif, District Sujawal, where he offered condolences to the bereaved family and offered Fateha for the departed soul.

Federal Minister of State Kheal Das Kohistani accompanied the Governor during the visit.

Expressing deep sorrow over the demise of Lal Bux Jatoi, the Governor Sindh described his passing as a significant national and social loss. He said the late Jatoi had dedicated his life to public service and that his valuable contributions to society would always be remembered with respect.

The Governor Sindh prayed for the eternal peace and elevated ranks of the departed soul and for patience and fortitude for the bereaved family, adding that the government and the entire nation stand with them in this difficult time.

Later, while talking to the media, Governor Sindh said that the Federal Government had provided funding for several road construction and rehabilitation projects underway in Sindh and would continue extending full support for the province’s development, public welfare and infrastructure improvement.

Responding to a question, he said that agriculture, health and education fall within the constitutional jurisdiction of the provincial government.

He added that the Federation respects all provinces and does not interfere in their constitutional authority.

Replying to another question, the Governor said, “Sindh was, Sindh is, and Sindh will always remain.”

He further stated that devolving powers to the grassroots level would improve governance and facilitate the effective resolution of public issues.

On a question regarding water scarcity, Governor Sindh said he would immediately take up the matter with the relevant authorities to resolve the water crisis in Sujawal, expressing hope that the situation would improve soon.

Mirpur: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday urged the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to vote for the PPP in the July 27 Legislative Assembly elections, pledging that a party-led government would protect public rights, natural resources and expand economic opportunities across the region. Addressing a large election rally at Sikandar Hayat Stadium, he expressed confidence that the PPP would secure a strong electoral mandate.

Bilawal paid tribute to PPP Azad Kashmir President Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin for his leadership and commitment, saying the party had prioritized loyal workers in awarding election tickets. He said the PPP’s workers had always remained steadfast despite political pressure and legal cases, adding that the party’s history was rooted in sacrifices for democracy and constitutional rights.

Highlighting the party’s election agenda, Bilawal pledged to safeguard the rights, land and resources of the people of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while continuing to raise the Kashmir issue at international forums. He also called for greater representation of Azad Kashmir in national institutions, including the Council of Common Interests (CCI) and the National Finance Commission (NFC), to ensure a greater role in decisions concerning resources and development.

Describing youth employment as a key priority, Bilawal promised to focus on job creation and economic opportunities for young people. He also reiterated his call for the establishment of a Truth Commission to investigate recent incidents in Azad Kashmir, urged the restoration of internet and communication services, and appealed to the federal government to address concerns arising from recent remarks about Kashmiris. Concluding his address, he said the July 27 elections would play a decisive role in shaping the future of Azad Kashmir and called on voters to support PPP candidates at the polls.
