Peshawar: A leopard that had been attacking livestock in Sapray Mandogon area of Wara Mamond Tehsil in Bajaur, was killed by local residents after repeated efforts on Sunday.

According to local residents, the leopard had been preying on cows and goats for several days, killing several animals and causing financial losses to livestock owners.

The repeated attacks created fear among residents, who were increasingly concerned about the safety of their livestock. After continuous efforts, the villagers managed to kill the leopard.

No official statement has yet been issued by the Wildlife Department regarding the incident.

Rawalpindi: Police have arrested the alleged leader of a gang involved in robbery, theft, and burglary incidents and recovered four stolen mobile phones and cash from his possession.

According to police, the action was carried out by R.A. Bazaar Police, who arrested the suspected gang leader during an operation.

The recovered stolen mobile phones and cash were taken into custody as part of the investigation.

SP Potohar Sardar Babar Mumtaz Khan said the arrested suspect would be presented before the court with solid evidence.

He added that those depriving citizens of their valuable belongings would not be able to escape the law, as Rawalpindi Police are taking strict action against criminal elements involved in such activities.

Sukkur: Member of the National Assembly Dr. Mahreen Razaq Bhutto visited the Department of Oncology at the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Gambat Sunday and reviewed the medical facilities being provided to cancer patients.

Director GIMS Dr. Raheem Bux Bhatti briefed the MNA about the functioning of the Oncology Department, available treatment facilities, state-of-the-art equipment, and patient care services.

On the occasion, Head of Department Oncology Dr. Syed Muhammad Sibtain Shah, Consultant Oncologist Dr. Muhammad Saleh Chandio, and Consultant Radiologist Dr. Hira Hanif Malik were also present. They briefed the MNA about the diagnosis, treatment protocols, chemotherapy, radiotherapy facilities, and the increasing number of patients visiting the department from across Sindh and other provinces.

The doctors informed that the Department of Oncology at GIMS Gambat is providing free and quality cancer treatment to patients, including advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services which were previously unavailable in the interior of Sindh.

MNA Dr. Mahreen Bhutto inspected various sections of the oncology ward, interacted with patients and inquired about the treatment facilities. She expressed satisfaction over the provision of free treatment and modern healthcare services under one roof.

Appreciating the efforts of the management, Dr. Mahreen Bhutto lauded the efforts of Director GIMS Dr. Raheem Bux Bhatti and his team for transforming GIMS Gambat into a center of excellence for healthcare.

She said GIMS Gambat is a flagship health institution of Sindh, providing world-class treatment facilities to poor and deserving patients free of cost, and the Sindh Government’s support for the institution is commendable.

Director GIMS Dr. Raheem Bux Bhatti thanked MNA Dr. Mahreen Bhutto for her visit and assured that the institution will continue to provide the best possible medical care to the people.

Hyderabad: Bazme-Rooh Rihan in its weekly series of literary sessions on Sunday hosted an event to observe 57th death anniversary of Maulvi Haji Ahmed Malah in which Maulvi Haji Ahmad Malah was honored with golden words.

Dr. Altaf Mehboob Jokhio, a well-known scholar and linguist, writer and researcher on Maulvi Haji Ahmed Malah’s poetry, said that Maulvi Haji Ahmad Malah was an unparalleled, mature poet, had full access to the art of tajnis, and his poetry also included resistance colors.

Secretary General of Bazm-e Rooh Rehan, Wahid Kandhro, said that Maulvi Haji Ahmad Mullah will always be alive in the form of his poetry.

Writer Mohammad Ali Chana read an article on Maulvi Haji Ahmad Mallah, poet Dr. Ali Nawaz Manjhand recited the poetry of Maulvi Haji Ahmad Mallah.

Saleem Chana, Sathi Saleh Katiyar, Sikandar Ali Khoso, Journalist Harish Kumar Sami, AD Kabooro, Ghulam Qadir Bardi, Advocate Syed Imdad Ali Shah, Akbar Solangi presented their words of appreciation in the coomemorative session.

Dera ismail khan: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ismail Khan, Ghulam Mubashir Maken, on Sunday visited the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital to inquire after Constable Abdul Malik, who sustained injuries during a terrorist attack on a police armored vehicle in Tank district.

SP Headquarters Jalil Imran and SP City Muhammad Nauman accompanied the RPO during the visit.

The RPO met the injured constable, appreciated his courage and assured him of the police department’s full support.

He also directed the attending doctors to ensure the provision of the best possible medical treatment and care without any negligence.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Mubashir Maken said every police officer and official was serving on the front line in the fight against terrorism.

He said the brave response of the Tank police personnel to the terrorist attack reflected the courage, professionalism and commitment of the force, adding that such sacrifices played a vital role in maintaining peace and protecting the public.

The RPO reaffirmed that the police department stood firmly with its personnel and would continue to support them in every difficult situation. He paid tribute to the injured constable for his dedication and sacrifice in the line of duty.

During the visit, Dr. Sibtain Shah shared alarming figures regarding the high prevalence of breast cancer among women, emphasizing the need for early diagnosis.

Speaking on the occasion and in a public awareness message from the Department of Oncology, MNA Dr. Mahreen Bhutto said that she is thankful to Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Health Minister, Government of Sindh for supporting GIMS. Today we have started an awareness campaign from our home district. GIMS has the latest mammography machines. As figures shared by Dr. Sibtain show, breast cancer cases are very high. I appeal to all women above the age of 35 years to get at least one mammography screening done, so that if there is any sign of cancer, it can be diagnosed at an early stage and lives can be saved.”

She further announced that Mammography screening and complete cancer treatment is 100% free at GIMS Gambat.

“I appeal to all men and women to bring their mothers, sisters, and daughters to GIMS for timely check-up and screening so that we can save the life of a mother, a sister, a daughter,” she added.
