Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department has taken strict notice of the sad incident of poaching of a Common Leopard in the border area of Spray, Mandugai, Tehsil Warah Mamond of Bajaur district and has initiated immediate investigation and legal action against the responsible elements.

According to the initial report issued by the Divisional Forest Officer Wildlife Bajaur, the incident took place in a difficult and remote mountainous area bordering Afghanistan.

As soon as the information was received, the concerned range officer and field staff were immediately sent to the scene to take custody of the leopard’s body and initiate legal action.

According to the report, due to the local law and order situation, the police did not allow the entire team to reach the scene, as a result of which only a few officials were allowed to proceed for recovery. There were also difficulties in communication due to the lack of mobile network in the area.

The Divisional Forest Officer, while personally supervising the operation, has started contacting the district administration, local elders and relevant institutions to ensure recovery of the leopard’s carcass, identification of the accused and strict legal action against them under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife and Biodiversity Act 2015.

The department has clarified that a full investigation into the incident is underway, while more details, identification of the accused and information related to legal action will be shared with the public and the media after the investigation is completed.

Latifur Rehman, spokesperson for the Department of Climate Change, Forests, Environment and Wildlife, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has said that wildlife is an invaluable asset of nature and the basis of our biodiversity.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department is following a zero tolerance policy for the protection of rare and protected wild animals. Those who poach, smuggle or damage the natural habitat of any wild animal will be dealt with strictly according to the law.

We appeal to the public, local leaders and all relevant institutions to fully cooperate with the department, considering wildlife conservation as a national responsibility, so that the natural heritage of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is preserved for future generations.

The Department of Climate Change, Forests, Environment and Wildlife Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also appeals to the public to immediately report any illegal hunting or suspicious activity related to wildlife to the nearest wildlife office or relevant authorities so that the conservation of natural resources and rare species can be made more effective.

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has formally established a dedicated complaint cell to address and resolve issues faced by female teachers and staff.

According to a departmental spokesman on Sunday, District Education Officer (Female) has issued a formal notification regarding this initiative to all Sub-Divisional Education Officers (SDEOs) and heads of government girls’ schools across the district.

The newly formed complaint cell will operate on a weekly basis, holding dedicated sessions every Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

During these hours, both female teaching faculty and non-teaching staff can visit DEO Women Peshawar office to directly voice their grievances.

The cell is specifically designed to handle long standing issues, including pending matters related to service establishment, administrative challenges, and general school operations.

All relevant educational heads and SDEOs have been strictly directed to ensure smooth implementation of this directive to facilitate staff effectively.

Sargodha: Around 120,000 women in district have received payments under the latest June-July 2026 tranche of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP),officials said on Sunday.

BISP Deputy Director(DD),Malik Safdar Awan and Assistant Director Sumaira said each beneficiary had been paid Rs14,500 under the latest installment.

They said 60,000 women received payments in Sargodha city,15,000 in Bhalwal,10,000 each in Shahpur,Bhera and Sahiwal, and 15,000 in Sillanwali.

According to the officials,the district has 2,13,000 registered BISP beneficiaries, of whom 120,000 have so far received payments under the current tranche.

They said arrangements had been made to facilitate beneficiaries during the disbursement process.

Awan said the distribution of SIMs under BISP’s digital wallet system was also in progress,adding that around 96% of the exercise had been completed.

Peshawar: Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud conducted a thorough inspection of Islamia College on Sunday to review newly completed renovation and restoration project.

During his visit, he said that Islamia College stands as a vital historical, educational, and cultural cornerstone of the province.

He underscored the government’s steadfast commitment to preserving the institution’s original identity, saying that the architectural integrity of such landmarks remains a top priority.

Commissioner said that recent upgrades, particularly the installation of modern lighting and meticulous structural renovations, have successfully enhanced the historical building’s inherent beauty and unique identity.

He said that these restoration efforts are part of a broader provincial initiative. Similar beautification projects are currently being rolled out across Peshawar’s other landmark sites, aiming to safeguard the region’s rich cultural heritage, elevate urban aesthetics, and actively boost local tourism.

Bahawalpur: Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur, Syed Hassan Raza chaired a review meeting to discuss the implementation of the Punjab Government’s “Sanjhi Sabzi, Muft Sabzi” (Shared Vegetables, Free Vegetables) initiative, launched under the public welfare vision of Chief Minister Punjab.

The meeting reviewed various aspects of the project, including the identification of cultivable government land, vegetable cultivation, and the formulation of a comprehensive strategy to provide citizens with fresh, high-quality vegetables free of cost. Addressing the participants, the Deputy Commissioner said the initiative is a unique welfare program aimed at reducing the impact of inflation and providing direct relief to the public. He noted that, in addition to ensuring the availability of fresh vegetables, the project would make productive use of unused government land for the benefit of the community.

Syed Hassan Raza directed all government departments to immediately identify vacant and cultivable land under their administrative control to ensure the timely implementation of the project. He instructed that available land at government schools, colleges, universities, rest houses, circuit houses, agricultural farms, livestock farms, and other public properties be brought under vegetable cultivation through a coordinated and effective implementation plan.

Hyderabad: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) MNA Syed Waseem held a meeting with the top officers of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) and conveyed citizens’ complaints pertaining to gas load shedding and low pressure.According to a statement issued here on Sunday, the MNA requested the SSGCL’s Senior General Manager Madni Siddiqui and Regional Head in Hyderabad Farooq Nizamani to address both the issues.Waseem underlined that the gas outages and low pressure had made it very difficult for the citizens to cook 3 times meals in their homes as inflation had already made cooked food expensive.He emphasized that the use and import of gas compressors should be completely banned.The MNA urged the officers to set up 2 more customers’ complaint centers in Hyderabad.The officers assured the legislator that his recommendations would be implemented.
