Rawalpindi: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted three successful operations across the country, arresting three drug suppliers and recovered 36. 8 kilograms of drugs with an estimated value of more than Rs 3. 3 million.

According to an ANF spokesperson, the operation targeting international drug smuggling was conducted at a courier office on Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi. Officials intercepted a parcel bound for Australia and recovered 210 grams of opium concealed inside a pair of shoes.

In another operation near the Kala Shah Kaku Toll Plaza, ANF personnel intercepted a vehicle and seized 16. 8 kg of hashish and 3 kg of crystal meth (ice). Three drug pushers were arrested during the operation. Separately, in District Mansehra, ANF recovered 16. 8 kg of hashish from a motorcycle near Balakot Road.

The ANF said cases have been registered against the arrested suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA), 1997, and further investigations are underway.

Beijing: Loudi of Hunan Province and Gujrat of Punjab, Pakistan, signed a sister-city memorandum of understanding (MoU) marking a new phase of institutionalized and pragmatic cooperation between the two cities.

The MoU was signed by Yang Wei, Mayor of Loudi City, and Shafay Hussain, Minister for the Industries, Commerce and Investment Department of the Government of Punjab, at a ceremony in Lahore, witnessed by Sun Yan, Consul General of China in Lahore.

The agreement establishes a framework for long-term collaboration in economic development, trade, investment and cultural exchange, reflecting the growing synergy between the two countries under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.

The sister city partnership is expected to facilitate knowledge sharing and technical cooperation in key sectors, particularly in agricultural modernization where Loudi’s manufacturing strengths complement Gujrat’s industrial and agricultural base.

During the visit, Mayor Yang Wei led a delegation of chairpersons from five Loudi-based enterprises, including three small agricultural machinery manufacturers and two small home appliance companies. for a three-day business mission in Lahore. The delegation conducted on-site inspections and held substantive discussions with their Pakistani counterparts to explore cooperation projects in the agricultural machinery sector, CEN reported.

In a parallel development, Liu Yongzhong, President of the Loudi Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and Hu Zhuling, President of the Liaison Center of the Pakistan-Hunan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, signed a friendship and cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. Under the agreement, the two sides will strengthen exchanges and cooperation in economic development, science and technology, cultural engagement, investment promotion and personnel visits, further facilitating business-to-business ties and fostering a more robust bilateral trade ecosystem.

Gujrat: Assistant Commissioner(AC), Abdul Qadeer Zarkoon and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Kashan Hafeez Butt on Saturday visited several parts of Gujrat to review rainwater drainage operations amid ongoing monsoon showers.

According to official sources, the officials inspected Jail Chowk, Kutchery Chowk, Prince Chowk, Jinnah Chowk and other low-lying areas to assess the pace of de-watering efforts.

During the visit, they directed field staff to expedite the removal of accumulated rainwater and ensure uninterrupted drainage operations to minimise disruption to residents.

Officials informed the inspection team that all 11 disposal stations in the city, including those at Jail Chowk, Kalra, Gulzar Madina and GTS Chowk were operating at full capacity to facilitate the swift drainage of rainwater and prevent urban flooding.

Bahawalpur: A training session organized at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) highlighted the importance of Odoo Ecoystem in Environment related issues.

According to an official press release issued by the IUB here, a training session was conducted in collaboration with the SAFE-RH Lab. Ahsan Jan, Consultant and Business Manager, Odoo Dubai. The session focused on Enterprise Resource Planning software applications and Academic Partnerships with universities of Pakistan.

‘Introduction to the fundamental operations and structural workflow of the Odoo ecosystem include hands-on walk through using a specialized trial application to showcase real-world deployment, ‘ it said, adding that direct interactive mentorship included participation of faculty members to implement Odoo modules in academic workflows. It further said that insights into Odoo’s dedicated university programs designed to boost student employability and technical skills.

Ahsan Jan, the moderator highlighted the importance of Odoo’s strong interest in establishing a Memorandum of Understanding with The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. This proposed partnership aims to formalize future training frameworks, grant software access, and bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands.

Faisalabad: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) launched a citywide de-watering operation on Saturday after fresh monsoon showers inundated parts of Faisalabad, deploying field teams and heavy machinery to clear waterlogged roads and ensure smooth traffic flow.

The operation was launched on the directives of WASA Managing Director(MD) Engineer, Saqib Raza, who had placed the agency’s field staff on high alert ahead of the rainfall, according to a spokesperson.

Rainfall monitoring stations recorded the highest precipitation of 25 millimeters in Ghulam Muhammad Abad, followed by 23mm each in Dogar Basti and the WASA head office, 22mm in Madina Town and 20mm each in Allama Iqbal Colony and Gulistan Colony.

WASA teams moved swiftly to major roads, intersections and other vulnerable locations using heavy machinery to remove accumulated rainwater and restore normal traffic flow.

The managing director said all disposal stations across the city were operating at full capacity to ensure uninterrupted drainage during the ongoing monsoon spell.

He directed operational staff to remain on alert until water was cleared from all low-lying areas, adding that continuous field monitoring was being carried out to tackle any emerging water-logging situation.

Raza said all available resources were being utilized to minimise disruption to daily life and ensure the timely disposal of rainwater across the city.

Muzaffargarh: Police intensified a crackdown against proclaimed offenders, thieves, drug peddlers and illegal arms holders, arresting eight suspects in separate operations, a police spokesman said Saturday.

Seetpur police, led by SHO Inspector Mustaqeem Sajid, arrested three proclaimed offenders and put them behind bars during targeted raids. The team also busted a gang of thieves, arresting five of its members in a separate operation. Acting against drug peddlers, police recovered 30 litres of illicit liquor from an accused.

In another operation against illegal weapons, police recovered a 30-bore pistol along with bullets from a suspect. Cases have been registered against all the accused under the Prohibition of Drugs Act and Arms Ordinance, police said, adding that further investigation was underway.
