Peshawar: The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar successfully organized a one-day workshop on Higher Education Statistics (HES) for principals and representatives of all affiliated colleges and institutes.

The workshop provided comprehensive guidance on the compilation, reporting, and submission of HES data, with a special focus on accuracy, transparency, and compliance with the requirements of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Participants were also briefed on best practices for strengthening institutional data management, ensuring quality reporting, and facilitating evidence-based planning.

The workshop concluded with a closing session addressed by the Registrar KMU, Mr. Inamullah Khan Wazir, who appreciated the active participation and cooperation of all affiliated institutions. He underscored the importance of the timely and accurate submission of HES data in enhancing institutional planning, quality assurance, and informed decision-making.

Inam Ullah Khan Wazir further stated that transparency, efficiency, and rapid service delivery are among the core pillars of KMU’s vision.

He highlighted the University’s successful implementation of Computer-Based Examinations (CBE) and other digital governance initiatives as examples of KMU’s commitment to innovation, accountability, and excellence in higher education.

Registrar KMU urged all affiliated institutions to actively support these initiatives by ensuring the timely submission of accurate institutional data.

Mirpur: One person was killed and three others injured on Tuesday in an exchange of fire between police and armed members of a banned organisation in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mirpur, members of the outlawed group had taken out a protest rally and allegedly attempted to force shopkeepers on Mian Muhammad Road to shut their businesses.

Police said they received information about the presence of armed members of the organisation in the area who were allegedly involved in anti-state activities. Acting on the information, law enforcement personnel launched an operation, during which the suspects allegedly opened fire, prompting police to retaliate and resulting in an armed clash.

The district police spokesperson said one person was killed and three others sustained injuries during the firing. The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Mirpur for medical treatment.

The SSP spokesperson said Mirpur police remained committed to maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of citizens. He also urged the public to avoid relying on unverified reports and rumours circulating on social media, advising people to follow only official and authenticated sources of information.

Multan: Multan Cantonment Board on Tuesday launched a tree plantation drive along the entry points of Multan Cantt under its “Green Cantt” campaign as part of the ongoing monsoon season.

The plantation ceremony was held on the special directives of Cantonment Board President Brigadier Saleem Younis and Executive Officer Sardar Atif Sultan.

Additional Executive Officer Asif Hayat, Cantonment Board member and District Peace Committee member Dr Ali, District Peace Committee member Yaqoob Shaira, Multan Cantt Peace Committee President Qalb-e- Abid Khan, Ijaz Kareem, Garden Superintendent Chaudhry Zaheer, Sanitary Incharge Habibullah Babar and other notables attended the event.

Participants jointly planted saplings of various species and vowed to make the Green Cantt campaign a success. Speaking on the occasion, the participants appealed to citizens to plant more trees and ensure the protection of saplings already planted, urging them to play their due role in making the environment green and clean.

They said trees were not only a beautiful gift of nature but also played a fundamental role in countering the negative effects of climate change, reducing air pollution and providing a clean and healthy environment to future generations.

The speakers emphasized that the monsoon season was highly suitable for plantation, urging every citizen to plant at least one tree and consider its upkeep a national and social responsibility to make Multan Cantt a greener, cleaner and more eco-friendly area.

Attock: A training workshop for Community Health Inspectors was held in Attock on Tuesday under the supervision of Punjab Secretary for Health and Population Nadia Saqib to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of frontline health workers.

Addressing the participants, Secretary Health Nadia Saqib highlighted the responsibilities of Community Health Inspectors and their crucial role in improving public health outcomes at the grassroots level. She stressed the importance of efficient service delivery, community engagement and professional dedication to ensure better healthcare facilities for citizens.

The workshop featured detailed sessions on field operations, community outreach strategies and monitoring mechanisms aimed at improving the performance of health workers and strengthening healthcare services across communities.

Deputy Director Khalid Sharif, Project Director PFPP Captain Usman, Additional Director PIU Dr. Farrukh Amin and Chief Executive Officer Health Attock Dr. Asad Ismail also attended the training session.

Tank: Assistant Commissioner Jandola Jamshed Alam Khan held meetings with various public delegations, tribal elders, and community representatives from Sub-Division Jandola at his office.

According to the administration during these meetings, participants discussed a range of public concerns, including development projects, basic civic facilities, and other issues affecting local communities.

The delegations presented their grievances, suggestions, and demands, seeking administrative support for resolving longstanding problems.

Assistant Commissioner Jamshed Alam Khan assured the delegations that all genuine issues would be addressed on a priority basis and reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to extending every possible assistance for public welfare.

He said the administration had resolved to maintain close coordination with the public, strengthen community engagement, and ensure the timely resolution of civic issues to improve service delivery across the subdivision.
