Multan: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) discarded over 100 dozen rotten eggs and got registered case against the bakery owner.

According to the PFA,the team conducted raid at a bakery in Basti Khuda Buksh, Vehari road on the directions of PFA Director General Syed Musa Raza.The team during inspection discovered that rejected and spoiled eggs obtained from a hatchery were intended for use in the preparation of cakes, rusks, biscuits and other bakery products. Acting swiftly, food safety officials confiscated and destroyed more than 100 dozen substandard eggs on the spot.

The authority also got registered First Information Report (FIR) at the relevant police station against bakery owner.

Speaking on the occasion, DG PFA, Syed Musa Raza, said there would be no leniency for those endangering public health. He termed the use of hatchery-rejected rotten eggs in food production not only a violation of food safety laws but also a serious threat to human health.

He reaffirmed that the PFA would continue its zero-tolerance policy against the manufacture, sale and distribution of unsafe food, ensuring the availability of safe, hygienic and quality food for citizens.

Peshawar: Employees and pensioners of the University of Peshawar have expressed strong concern over the non-payment of salaries and pensions for May and June this year, warning of a complete shutdown of administrative operations if their dues would not cleared by July 8.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, an important meeting of the university’s Class-III Employees Association, Class-IV Union and Sanitation Staff Association was held to discuss the delay in payment of salaries and pensions.

The participants expressed disappointment and anger over what they termed the failure of the university administration and the provincial government to ensure timely disbursement of salaries and pensions.

The three associations unanimously demanded the immediate release of all outstanding payments for May and June 2026.

The meeting unanimously decided that if the university administration failed to ensure payment of salaries and pensions by Wednesday (July 8), the associations would launch a series of protest actions.

Under the announced plan, employees would lock the university’s main administration block, while all offices would remain closed. Members of the three associations would also observe a complete work boycott and pen-down strike.

The associations warned that any disruption arising from the protest would be the responsibility of the university administration and the provincial government.

They urged the authorities to resolve the issue without delay and ensure the payment of all outstanding dues to employees and pensioners.

Peshawar: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday urged the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) to take effective measures to reduce prolonged electricity load shedding in the province, saying the extended outages were causing severe hardship to the public.

He expressed these views during a meeting with a high level Wapda delegation led by PESCO Chief Akhtar Hameed Khan at the Governor House.

During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Governor on steps being taken to address public concerns over excessive load shedding in Dera Ismail Khan.

The Wapda officials informed the Governor that the commissioning of Dera Grid Station-II would help resolve voltage fluctuations and frequent tripping issues in the area. They said progress on a transmission line near Yarik had been delayed due to a court stay order, adding that a project worth around Rs6 billion remained stalled because of litigation involving seven transmission towers.

The officials further informed the meeting that several feeders of the Dera Ismail Khan grid station were overloaded and that the inauguration of a new grid station would significantly improve the electricity supply situation.

The meeting also discussed the inauguration of the Band Korai Grid Station in DI Khan.

Matters relating to overcoming the shortage of staff in PESCO, installation and upgradation of transformers in various areas, and replacement of worn-out electricity wires also came under discussion.

Governor Kundi stressed the need for expediting these projects and ensuring improved electricity services to provide relief to consumers across the province.

Bahawalpur: Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza paid a surprise visit to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH), where he carried out a detailed inspection of Mental Health Ward and reviewed healthcare services, availability of medicines, cleanliness standards, administrative discipline, and the performance of medical staff. Medical Superintendent Bahawal Victoria Hospital Dr. Abdul Rehman accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the inspection. The Deputy Commissioner received a detailed briefing on the ward’s medicine inventory, supply chain, and drug distribution system. Medical Superintendent Dr. Abdul Rehman informed him that an uninterrupted supply of essential medicines was being maintained and that medicine stocks were monitored regularly to prevent shortages. Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza also reviewed the quality of medical care being provided to patients, treatment standards, sanitation arrangements, and the overall environment of the ward. He inspected various sections of the facili
ty and reviewed administrative arrangements, including doctors’ duty rosters, to ensure that all doctors and healthcare staff were performing their responsibilities according to the prescribed schedules.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the hospital administration to ensure that there was no disruption or negligence in the supply of medicines and emphasized that all essential drugs must remain available at all times. He further directed the administration of the Mental Health Ward to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, strengthen discipline within the ward, and ensure that no shortcomings occur in patient treatment, care, or the provision of healthcare facilities. Speaking on the occasion, Syed Hassan Raza said that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provision of quality, timely, and dignified healthcare services in public hospitals remains one of the Punjab Government’s highest priorities. He added that providing patients with treatment in a clean, safe, and comfortable environment was the responsibility of hospital administration, and all available resources should be utilized to achieve this objective. The Deputy Commissioner reaffirmed that surprise inspe
ctions of government hospitals across the district would continue to monitor and improve healthcare standards, ensure the uninterrupted availability of medicines, and provide the public with the highest possible quality of medical services.

Attock: Deputy Commissioner Attock Dr. Mudassar Ahmed Shah on Tuesday carried out a surprise inspection of different parts of the city to assess sanitation arrangements, civic amenities and municipal services, directing the authorities concerned to further strengthen cleanliness operations.

Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and Administrator Municipal Committee Attock Anil Saeed, the deputy commissioner visited major roads, markets, residential areas and public places. Chief Officer Municipal Committee Attock Sardar Aftab Ahmed Khan and other municipal officials briefed him on ongoing sanitation measures, waste management and the performance of sanitation staff.

Expressing satisfaction with the progress while calling for further improvement, Dr. Shah instructed officials to ensure the timely collection and disposal of solid waste, intensify monitoring of sanitation staff and address public complaints without delay.

He said providing citizens with a clean, healthy and hygienic environment was among the district administration’s foremost priorities, adding that all available resources were being utilized to improve civic services and maintain high sanitation standards.

The deputy commissioner reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to strengthening the sanitation system and enhancing municipal services, stressing that negligence in cleanliness operations or public service delivery would not be tolerated.

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation, Riaz Khan, paid a detailed visit to various construction sites of the Pehur High Level Canal (PHLC) Project in district Swabi to review the pace of work.

Expressing serious concern over the slow progress of the project, the Minister issued strict directives to the concerned officials and contractors to ensure its completion by October this year, emphasizing that no further delay would be tolerated under any circumstances.

The Provincial Minister was accompanied by Provincial Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Aqib Ullah Khan, Members of the Provincial Assembly Abdul Karim and Rangez Ahmad Khan, Secretary Irrigation Muhammad Abid Wazir, the Project Director, concerned engineers, and other officials.

During the visit, the Minister inspected various components of the project, including ongoing construction activities, canal infrastructure, engineering works, and other key project sites.

He was given a comprehensive briefing on the overall progress of the project, including its physical and financial progress, key challenges, and the timeline for its completion.

Riaz Khan directed the concerned authorities to further accelerate the pace of work by mobilizing all available resources and ensuring daily monitoring of progress so that the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe by October.

He said that the KP government is fully committed to fulfilling its promises to the people and that the timely completion of public welfare projects remains one of the provincial government’s highest priorities.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to removing all administrative, technical, and operational hurdles hindering the project’s completion to ensure that the scheme is completed without interruption and delivers improved services and long-term benefits to the people of the area.

On the occasion, Provincial Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Aqib Ullah Khan, along with MPAs Abdul Karim and Rangez Khan, assured their full cooperation for the timely completion of the project.

They pledged to work closely with the relevant departments to address issues within their respective constituencies and facilitate the successful execution of this important public welfare initiative.

Concluding his visit, the Provincial Minister for Irrigation directed officials to provide regular progress updates and ensure the project is completed on time without compromising quality, so that its benefits reach the public at the earliest.
