Quetta: The Department of Secondary Education, Balochistan, has officially announced short summer vacations for schools located in the province’s winter zone.

According to the notification issued, all public and private schools in the winter zone will remain closed from July 18 to August 2, 2026.

The notification further added that teaching and academic activities across both summer and winter zones will resume regularly from Monday, August 3, 2026. The department has directed divisional directors, district education officers, school heads, and relevant administrators to ensure strict compliance with the schedule and to make all necessary arrangements for the timely resumption of classes after the holidays.

In its advisory, the department also appealed to parents, teachers, and students to plan their academic activities in line with the announced schedule so that the new academic session can begin in an organized and effective manner.

Quetta: Governor of Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that took place last night in Hanna Urak. In his statement, the Governor emphasized that all law enforcement agencies must take concrete measures to ensure the complete elimination of terrorism and sabotage activities across the province.

Governor Mandokhail stressed that safeguarding the lives and property of citizens is the foremost responsibility of the government. Expressing deep sorrow over the martyrdom of local tribal members in the armed assault, he extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, assuring them that the state stands with them in their grief.

The Governor’s remarks highlight the provincial leadership’s resolve to intensify counter-terrorism efforts and reinforce security measures in Balochistan, a region that has faced repeated militant violence in recent years.

Quetta: Balochistan Governor, Jaffar Khan Mandokhel on Monday said that politics was actually serving the people and protecting their rights and powers.

He expressed these views while talking to various delegations of Zhob division at the Governor House, Quetta, during a separate meeting.

The Governor said that he was sure that the strong and stable foundations of education, healthcare and infrastructure that he had laid in the entire province, especially in Zhob division, in his forty-year political career would benefit our future generations as well.

He said that the day would not be far away when District Zhob would prove to be an important educational center for the entire region. The BUITEMS University Zhob Campus, Danish School under the Punjab Government’s education project and other educational and technical institutions would have a very constructive impact on the overall life of the people.

Mandokhel said the greatness of true politics and leadership lay in meeting the needs of the present people as well as providing protection to the future generations, it was a matter of pride and satisfaction for all of us that the BUITEMS University Zhob Campus had emerged as a prominent center for the promotion of quality education, academic and professional training of the youth and human resource development.

He mentioned that by providing quality and accessible education to the students of District Zhob, Sherani, Loralai, Qila Saifullah and other adjoining areas, this institution has achieved such successes in a short span of time that were a source of pride not only for the institution but also for the entire Zhob Division.

The Governor said that despite limited resources and geographical distance, the performance of all small and large educational institutions in Zhob city has improved significantly.

He said, “I am happy to know that more than a dozen candidates have succeeded in passing the written examination in the Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC) and other competitive examinations, for which the hard work and dedication of the Director of BUITEMS University Zhob, Professor Dr. Abdul Salam Lodhi and his entire team deserve tribute behind these remarkable achievements”.

Director Dr. Abdul Salam thanked the Governor of Balochistan for his continued patronage and cooperation, saying that as a result of your personal efforts and friendship with education, positive results have started to emerge in the form of reduction in heavy educational fees and educational sponsorship of many deserving university students.

Quetta: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has declared that every attempt to frighten the people of Balochistan or weaken the state through terrorism will be decisively defeated.

Speaking to media representatives after visiting victims of the Hanna Urak terrorist attack at a local hospital, he praised the extraordinary bravery, professionalism, and resilience of police, law enforcement agencies, and security forces in confronting terrorist threats.

Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that cowardly acts of terror cannot shake the resolve of the state. He assured that the government will provide complete support to the families of martyrs and ensure the best medical treatment for the injured. He stressed that counter-terrorism operations will continue until their logical conclusion, with the writ of the state upheld at all costs.

Paying tribute to the martyrs, the Chief Minister said that while no financial compensation can replace the loss of human life, the government will not abandon their families. He announced that financial assistance is being distributed and pledged that the government will bear the full cost of education, scholarships, and living expenses for the children of martyrs up to the age of sixteen.

Sarfraz Bugti highlighted the courage of Balochistan Police, noting that one officer had been injured for the fourth time in recent months while fighting terrorists – a testament to the force’s dedication and sacrifice. He expressed pride in the police, praising their enhanced capacity and professional performance under the Inspector General’s leadership.

He commended all law enforcement agencies for playing their constitutional and legal roles effectively against terrorism. Bugti explained that terrorists often strike soft targets briefly, harm innocent civilians, and flee after recording propaganda videos, but stressed that the state will never allow such malicious designs to succeed.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment, the Chief Minister declared that indiscriminate action against terrorists, their facilitators, and anti-state elements will be intensified. He concluded that protecting citizens’ lives and property is the government’s foremost responsibility, and all state institutions will continue to work in complete unity to establish lasting peace in Balochistan.

Quetta: Secretary Communications and Works (CandW) Balochistan, Babar Khan, has reaffirmed that the department’s foremost priority for the fiscal year 2026-27 is to complete all development projects within the stipulated timelines, ensuring full transparency, financial discipline, and adherence to government policy, so that citizens receive timely and quality facilities.

He expressed these views while presiding over a review meeting on the annual performance report of fiscal year 2025-26 and planning for the new fiscal year. The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Abbas Khosa, Deputy Secretary Zahid Shahwani, Technical Advisor Ehsanullah Khan Dotani, and other officials.

The session reviewed the overall performance of the previous year, ongoing development schemes, financial discipline, tendering processes, PC-I preparation, DAC and DSC approvals, and recruitment matters. It also outlined tasks for the new fiscal year.

Secretary Babar Khan emphasized that under the vision of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and guidance of Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa, the department will play a vital role in the province’s development and prosperity by modernizing infrastructure. He directed that all projects declared complete by June 30 must be fully finalized without delay, and even minor pending work should be finished immediately.

He strictly prohibited advance payments, stressed timely surrender of unused funds, and instructed that all PC-I documents be prepared promptly, DAC and DSC meetings be held regularly, DSC approvals be finalized by July 15, and tendering minutes and other approvals be completed by July 31.

It was clarified that development funds will only be released in accordance with rules and regulations, and allocations for major projects such as A-One Roads will be issued collectively after formal approval. Projects showing discrepancies between financial and physical progress will be closely monitored.

Babar Khan also directed that recruitment processes must remain transparent, appointments should strictly follow approved positions, and judicial orders and rules must be fully observed. He concluded by stressing that the CandW Department has a pivotal role in modernizing the province’s infrastructure, and with dedication and hard work, no obstacle can prevent Balochistan’s progress and prosperity.

Quetta: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan has issued a weather alert following forecasts by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), warning of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in upper and central districts of the province between the night of July 7 and July 8, 2026.

According to PMD, a westerly wave combined with moist currents from the Bay of Bengal is expected to affect several districts, including Zhob, Sherani, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Duki, Harnai, Loralai, Sibi, Barkhan, Musakhail, Khuzdar, Dera Bugti, and adjoining areas.

In view of the forecast, PDMA has directed all Deputy Commissioners, District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs), and relevant departments to remain on high alert, ensure the availability of emergency response teams and resources, and take precautionary measures to protect lives and property.

The advisory highlighted potential risks such as damage to weak structures, electricity poles, billboards, and solar panels due to strong winds, as well as possible lightning strikes in some areas. Farmers have been advised to plan agricultural activities in line with the latest weather updates, while the public has been urged to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from vulnerable buildings, trees, and power installations during adverse weather.

District administrations have been instructed to closely monitor the situation, maintain effective coordination with relevant agencies, and ensure timely dissemination of accurate information to the public. They have also been asked to submit regular reports to the Provincial Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) throughout the forecast period.

PDMA Balochistan appealed to citizens to remain cautious, follow official weather advisories issued by PMD and PDMA, and immediately report any emergency to the concerned authorities. The Authority assured that it is fully prepared to respond to any potential weather-related emergency and will provide all possible assistance and support.
