Faisalabad: Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh has welcomed the appointment of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Nauman Siddique and assured him full cooperation of the business community for planned and sustainable development of the city.

In a statement issued here on Monday, FCCI President described Muhammad Nauman Siddique as a seasoned and experienced bureaucrat with the professional capability to effectively manage administrative affairs while spearheading the comprehensive and organized development of Faisalabad.

Farooq Yousaf Sheikh expressed confidence that the newly appointed deputy commissioner would play a proactive role in addressing civic and administrative challenges and implementing development initiatives for improving public service delivery and facilitating economic growth.

Welcoming his appointment on behalf of Faisalabad business community, he assured the deputy commissioner of the chamber’s complete support and close coordination in efforts to promote trade, industry and the city’s overall development.

The FCCI President said that the business community has always worked in partnership with district administration for progress and prosperity of Faisalabad and it would continue extending possible cooperation to achieve shared development objectives.

He also invited Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Nauman Siddique to visit Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry for an interaction with the business community to discuss the matters relating to industrial growth, trade facilitation and future development of the city.

Kohat: The City Police station successfully apprehended a proclaimed offender wanted in connection with multiple fraud cases involving millions of rupees, these were on the directives of DPO Kohat Shahbaz Elahi.

The operation was conducted by the City Police during a “Search and Strike” mission, in coordination with the District Special Branch staff.

The suspect, identified as Muhammad Bilal was taken into custody following the targeted operation.

According to police records, the accused was wanted by the City Police station in Case No. 302, dated May 5, 2025, registered under section 489-F, and Case No. 122, dated February 17, 2026, registered under sections 489-F, 506, and 406.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect allegedly deceived innocent citizens through various fraudulent schemes, embezzling millions of rupees.

Police sources further indicated that there are reports of the accused having obtained significant sums of money from several other individuals as well.

Following his arrest, the suspect has been transferred to the City Police station, where a dedicated investigation team is currently interrogating him. Authorities stated that further legal action will be initiated based on the findings of the ongoing probe.

Faisalabad: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Chief Engineer Headquarters Mubashar Hayat Rao retired after attaining the age of superannuation.

In this connection, a farewell ceremony was held at FESCO Headquarters in his honor while senior officers and administrative officials of the company attended it.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) FESCO Engr. Muhammad Aamer paid tribute to Engr. Mubashar Hayat Rao’s outstanding professional services. He described him as a highly competent, experienced, and dedicated officer who upheld the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, hard work, and commitment throughout his career.

The FESCO Chief said that Engineer Mubashar Hayat Rao remained a valuable asset to FESCO owing to his technical expertise, administrative capabilities, and timely decision-making. He further said that Engr. Mubashar Hayat Rao firmly believed in merit-based decision-making, remained steadfast under all circumstances and consistently placed the organization’s interests above all else.

Addressing the gathering, the retiring Chief Engineer Mubashar Hayat Rao expressed gratitude for the unwavering support extended to him by senior management, colleagues and subordinate staff throughout his career.

Later, FESCO CEO Engr. Muhammad Aamer along with other senior officers presented a commemorative shield to Chief Engineer Mubashar Hayat Rao and a cheque covering his retirement benefits.

Muzaffargarh: A body of a youth was recovered from River Chenab here on Monday.

Rescue-1122 said that Muhammad Umair,resident of Kayian Pur village had allegedly jumped into the river from the Chenab bridge,Multan Road.

Upon getting the information, the team including divers and swimmers reached the spot and conducted search operation,recovering the body after 11 hours.

The body was handed over to the heirs after completing medico-legal formalities,said rescue.

Peshawar: The special quota for minorities and transgenders in government jobs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has attracted an overwhelming response, with more than 1,700 applications submitted for vacancies across various government departments.

According to official sources on Monday, over 500 applications have been received from transgender candidates, while more than 1,200 applications were submitted by members of minority communities. The figures reflect growing interest in public sector employment under the reserved quota.

Authorities have begun scrutinizing the applications. Officials said transgender applicants were required to submit medical certificates along with other necessary documents. All applications are being reviewed in accordance with merit, eligibility criteria and prescribed rules to ensure a transparent recruitment process.

Government sources said the special quota aims at providing equal employment opportunities to transgenders and minority communities, enabling them to play a more active role in public service and the country’s development.

Multan: A fire broke out on the second floor of the Education Board office in Gulgasht area here on Monday, gutting a record room after a short circuit.

According to Rescue-1122,the teams reached the site upon information and rescued seven people stranded on the roof of the building.

The fire was brought under control shortly,after which cooling operations continued to prevent it from reigniting.

No casualties were reported due to the timely rescue response and the operation was carried out with full precautions,rescue said.
