Mirpur (ajk): The legal proceedings have advanced against a United Kingdom-based Kashmiri, Ashiq Firdousi, who has been declared a proclaimed offender in a case involving allegations of spreading false information, disseminating misleading news and inciting public unrest, according to police officials.

Police in Chakswari, Mirpur district has said that after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered, the authorities made repeated attempts to arrest Firdousi. When the efforts failed because he could not be located, investigators obtained arrest warrants from a court .

The officials said the accused did not appear before the court despite the warrants. On July 3, 2026, the court issued a proclamation and formally declared him a proclaimed offender.

The police said that if Firdousi continues to evade court proceedings, additional legal measures could follow in accordance with the law. The police said said they remain committed to pursuing the case through all available legal channels.

Peshawar: Minister for Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khaliq Ur Rahman and Secretary Health KP, Shahid Ullah Khan, accompanied by Meritorious Professor Dr. Zia Ul Haq, Vice Chancellor, Khyber Medical University (KMU), inaugurated the state-of-the-art Mammography Unit at the KMU Hospital and Research Centre (KMU-HandRC).

They stated that the availability of modern diagnostic facilities would play a vital role in ensuring timely diagnosis and the provision of quality healthcare services, particularly for women.

The dignitaries congratulated the University administration on this significant milestone and extended their best wishes for the continued growth, success, and public service of Khyber Medical University.

Multan: A police team from PS Old Kotwali reunited a minor girl with her family here on Monday. A police spokesman said a police team found seven-year-old Ambreen at city traffic-busy Chungi No 9 cross-section and took her in custody. Police then interviewed the girl, and was able to contact her family. Police handed over the girl to her parents after proper procedure. Parents thanked police for kind intervention.

Peshawar: Chief Minister, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi has announced special funding for out-of-school children and significantly improving public service delivery, governance, education, healthcare and security services in Merged Districts.

Chairing a high-level review meeting on law and order, governance and development programmes in the merged districts on Monday, the chief minister instructed the administration to ensure visible improvements in public services within the next three months. He said restoring public confidence through better performance of government institutions remained a top priority.

The chief minister also ordered the restoration of all development activities in North Waziristan within one week and directed the relevant departments to immediately deploy the required officers and staff to avoid further delays.

Highlighting the importance of education, Afridi said special funds had been allocated in the current fiscal year’s budget to bring out-of-school children back into the education system. He also ordered the urgent recruitment of teachers to address staff shortages in schools.

On healthcare, the chief minister directed officials to reassess the shortage of doctors in hospitals across the merged districts and recruit additional medical staff where needed to improve healthcare services.

Afridi further instructed the relevant authorities to write to the federal government regarding the payment of pending compensation to the victims of Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Discussing security, he said the merged districts remain on the frontline in the fight against terrorism and would continue to receive priority in the provision of modern weapons, equipment and other security resources.

The chief minister also praised the police for establishing state-of-the-art Police Facilitation Centres, stressing that the real measure of success lies not in constructing buildings but in providing efficient and high-quality public services.

Abbottabad: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved a Rs. 200 million project under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2026-27 for the establishment of state-of-the-art laboratories at the Abbottabad University of Science and Technology (AUST).

The project, secured through the efforts of Vice Chancellor Dr. Tahir Irfan, will see the establishment of Advanced Materials and Mineral Processing Laboratories aimed at strengthening the university’s research infrastructure and promoting scientific innovation.

According to official documents, Rs. 30.009 million has been allocated for the 2026-27 fiscal year, while the remaining Rs. 169.991 million will be released in subsequent financial years.

The new laboratories are expected to provide students with advanced practical training opportunities, enhance research in advanced materials and mineral processing, and help produce a skilled workforce capable of meeting industrial requirements.

Academics and education experts have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant step towards enhancing the university’s research capacity and promoting scientific and technological development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Gujrat: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA), on the directions of Deputy Director PFA Sadia Rafat, inspected 44 food businesses across Gujrat district during an enforcement drive against food safety violations and imposed fines totaling Rs93,000 on five food outlets.

According to official sources, PFA teams issued 20 improvement notices to food businesses over various violations during the inspections.

The authority also collected four food samples for laboratory analysis and discarded one kilogram of expired food items to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

The PFA said inspection drives and legal action against violators would continue across the district to ensure the provision of safe, quality and hygienic food to the public.
