Quetta: Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has described the launch of the Digital Health Information System (DHIS) as a transformative step that will revolutionize the province’s healthcare sector.

Addressing the Third Health Care Leadership Conference in Quetta, he said the system will ensure that all health centers maintain regular records, including attendance of doctors and paramedical staff, supply and distribution of medicines, and functionality of facilities such as district-level buildings and labor rooms.

Governor Jaffar Mandokhail emphasized that this initiative will set new standards of transparency, accountability, and performance across hospitals and Basic Health Units (BHUs). For the first time, District Health Officers and Medical Superintendents will be held directly accountable, a move he praised as historic.

He commended Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar and Secretary Health Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Panizai for their leadership in making this reform possible.

r noted that the conference was not just about healthcare leadership but about preparing for a healthier future that protects even the most marginalized communities. He stressed that leadership and management are continuous processes needed across all sectors, particularly in Balochistan’s remote districts.

Highlighting the province’s vast geography and scattered population, he appealed to the United Nations and other international organizations to extend full support in delivering basic facilities to every citizen, ensuring that no individual is left deprived.

The event was attended by Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, UNICEF Pakistan Chief Ms Fitsum Assifa, Secretary Health Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Panizai, along with a large number of doctors and paramedical staff. Earlier, Governor Mandokhail formally inaugurated the District Health Information System and Electronic Medical Record Module.

Quetta: Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, and under the supervision of Provincial Transport Secretary Muhammad Hayat Kakar and Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) Secretary Waheed Sharif Umrani, a joint operation was carried out by the PTA and Motorway Police against long-route passenger coaches at Tor Nasir Cross.

During the operation, several passenger coaches were thoroughly inspected. Vehicles found with incomplete documentation, missing route permits, drivers without valid licenses, or other violations of transport laws were immediately sent back and instructed to fulfill all legal requirements before resuming service.

Officials sternly warned coach owners and drivers that only vehicles with complete legal documents, including route permits, fitness certificates, registration papers, and valid driving licenses, will be allowed on the roads. They stressed that violators will face strict legal action in the future as well.

Authorities expressed particular concern over the growing trend of installing additional petrol or diesel tanks in long-route coaches, calling it a dangerous practice that not only violates transport regulations but also poses serious risks to passengers’ lives and property. Coach owners were directed to remove such fuel tanks immediately to prevent any potential accidents.

Officials reiterated that the Balochistan government is committed to providing safe, reliable, and law-abiding transport facilities to the public. They assured that the protection of passengers’ lives and property remains the government’s top priority, and strict enforcement actions against violators of traffic and transport laws will continue without discrimination.

Quetta: In line with the vision of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti to provide quality healthcare facilities in remote areas, the modern operation theatre at Mir Ghulam Qadir Bugti Memorial Hospital, Baiker, has successfully completed more than 50 surgeries without any complications, achieving a 100 percent success rate.

Sharing his remarks on social media, Chief Minister Bugti described the achievement as a highly encouraging milestone for the province’s healthcare sector. He noted that the success reflects the professional expertise of doctors and paramedical staff, the availability of modern medical facilities, and the effectiveness of the government’s health reforms.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the provincial government’s goal is to deliver modern and quality healthcare at the doorstep of people in far-flung areas, reducing the need for patients to travel to major cities for treatment. He reiterated that ongoing reforms in the health sector are focused on providing timely, safe, and quality medical care, with all available resources being utilized to achieve this objective.

Sarfraz Bugti praised the dedication of the hospital’s doctors, surgeons, nursing staff, and medical teams, acknowledging their tireless efforts that made this success possible. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upgrading hospitals across Balochistan, equipping them with advanced medical technology, and expanding both basic and specialized healthcare facilities to ensure that every citizen has access to quality treatment.

Quetta: Acting on the vision of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Communications and Works Department Balochistan has formally launched the tendering process for development projects under the 2026-27 fiscal year.

Officials noted that, in line with the Planning Commission and Planning Manual, the fiscal year begins on July 1 and concludes on June 30. For the second consecutive year, the department has achieved a highly satisfactory utilization rate of development funds, reflecting effective financial planning and accelerating the pace of development across the province.

Authorities emphasized that timely use of funds and implementation of projects will strengthen Balochistan’s infrastructure, while also boosting economic activity and improving public welfare. Following the approval of new Development Scheme Codes (DSCs), tenders for various projects have already been published in national and local newspapers starting July 1.

According to Secretary Babar Khan, the early start of the tendering process is clear evidence of the provincial government’s seriousness and commitment to ensuring transparency, timely completion of projects, and efficient use of available resources. He added that this initiative will not only speed up development projects but also play a vital role in achieving sustainable development goals in Balochistan.
