Sialkot: Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Owais Mushtaq on Monday visited Government Boys High School and Government Girls High School on Khadim Ali Road to review facilities and cleanliness arrangements.

During the visit, he inspected classrooms, washrooms and other school facilities, reviewed sanitation arrangements and interacted with school staff regarding the overall condition of the institutions.

He stressed that a clean, safe and well-maintained educational environment was essential

for improving quality of education and ensuring the well-being of students.

According to a spokesperson for the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the deputy commissioner directed the chief executive officer education to ensure the immediate cleaning of roofs at all government schools in view of the monsoon season so that rainwater could drain properly and no obstruction caused by accumulated debris could pose a safety risk.

He said the district administration was committed to ensuring that all public schools remained safe, clean and fully functional during the rainy season, enabling students to continue their education without disruption.

Hyderabad: Vice President of Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry Shan Sehgal participated as a special guest in the Education Expo 2026 held at Bahria Town Karachi.

This expo proved to be a unique and effective forum to bring together the country’s leading educationists, former ministers of education, industry and trade personalities, CEOs of various institutions, university vice-chancellors and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce on one platform, where a detailed discussion was held on mutual cooperation between education, industry and modern technology.

During the expo, Vice President Shan Sehgal met various important personalities, including Muhammad Iqbal Memon, Additional Chief Secretary, Sindh Home Department and Chief Executive Officer, Sindh Center for Excellence on Countering Violent Extremism, Muhammad Uzair, Founder Community Hub Bahria Town Karachi, Yasir Hussain, General Manager Marketing Bahria Town, and Naveed Gilani, Chief Executive Officer, Kingston School and Colleges.

During the meeting, important topics like education, vocational training of youth, employment opportunities, linkage between academia and industry, and development of future skills were discussed.

On this occasion, Vice President Shan Sehgal said that sustainable economic development of Pakistan depends on quality education, modern technology, research, innovation and preparation of a skilled workforce.

He said that only traditional education is not enough, but time is needed to equip the youth with digital skills, business skills and practical training according to the needs of the market so that they can play an effective role at the national and international level.

He further said that programs like Education Expo 2026 play an important role in bridging the gap between educational institutions, industry, business sector and policy making institutions.

Such forums not only inform the students about career planning, new educational dimensions, latest technology and future employment opportunities, but also provide them an opportunity to use their skills in a better way.

Shan Sehgal expressed his determination that Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry will continue its active role in promoting youth education, technical skills, business training, start-up culture, digital economy and academia-industry cooperation in the future so that educated and talented youth can play an effective role in the economic development of the country.

During the expo, panel discussions, workshops and special sessions were organized on important topics like future education, artificial intelligence, digital skills, new economy, youth empowerment, startup ecosystem and academia-industry linkage, in which thousands of students, teachers, parents, representatives of educational institutions, industrialists and businessmen participated enthusiastically.

Multan: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed a bakery and discarded more than 100 dozen rotten eggs during a crackdown in Khanewal.

According to the PFA spokesperson, the team conducted a raid at 19-NR Kacha Khoh and recovered foul-smelling, fungus-infested and spoiled eggs from the bakery’s storage area.

Officials said the contaminated eggs were intended to be used in the preparation of cakes, rusks, biscuits and other bakery items.

The team destroyed over 100 dozen unfit eggs on the spot, while an FIR was registered against the bakery owner for violating food safety regulations. The bakery’s production activities were also suspended until necessary improvements were made.

Faisalabad: Divisional Commissioner Imran Hamid Sheikh on Monday announced plans to expand Children’s Hospital Faisalabad from 314 to 450 beds under the Punjab government’s ongoing healthcare reforms.

During his visit to the hospital, he reviewed healthcare services and reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to modernize public health facilities and enhance access to quality medical care for children. He said that fast-track steps would be taken to increase the hospital’s capacity from 314 to 450 beds to meet the growing demand for specialized paediatric healthcare. He said the administration would also take up the matter of providing additional doctors with the competent authorities to address staffing requirements. He appreciated the hospital management for ensuring effective treatment and uninterrupted supply of medicines to young patients.

He said the hospital’s efficient management system would be replicated in other public hospitals across Faisalabad division to improve the overall standard of healthcare delivery.

During the visit, the Divisional Commissioner inspected various wards, met children undergoing treatment and interacted with their parents to obtain first-hand feedback on the quality of medical services and hospital arrangements. The parents expressed satisfaction over the treatment facilities and patient care being provided at the hospital.

The Divisional Commissioner also inspected the dialysis unit, reviewed patient care arrangements, checked the availability of medicines in the hospital pharmacy and examined cleanliness and sanitation measures. He said that making government hospitals across the division complaint-free in terms of treatment facilities and patient services remains one of the administration’s top priorities. All necessary efforts would continue to improve healthcare standards and public confidence in the health system, he added.

Muzaffargarh: Rescue-1222 teams safely evacuated 21 members of a family stranded in floodwaters at Basti Chajra, a low-lying area along the River Chenab, after rising water levels submerged several houses on Monday.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, teams reached the affected site promptly after receiving an emergency call and managed to access the area despite difficult conditions and flood-hit routes.

The rescue personnel safely evacuated all 21 stranded individuals along with their essential belongings from the flood-affected area.

The rescued persons were later shifted to a safe location at Mochiwala Patan.
