Lahore: Punjab Traffic Police has introduced several digital facilities by accelerating the process of reforms in the traffic system using modern technology. According to the Traffic Police spokesperson, the driving licensing system has been made completely digital through DLIMS 2, under which fast, easy and transparent online licensing facilities are being provided to the citizens.

The online system also includes the facility of issuing new learner permits, license renewals and duplicate licenses, while the facility of online renewal of international driving licenses for overseas Pakistanis has also been introduced.

The spokesperson said that 33 mobile police and licensing units have been activated across the province to provide services at the doorstep of the public, while services are being provided to citizens in their areas through mobile police stations and licensing units.

DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir said that merit and transparency in the licensing process have been further strengthened with the modern monitoring system. He said that AI driving test car will prove to be an important milestone in the modern licensing system.

Lahore: The Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Saturday organized a one-day training workshop titled ‘ECG Diagnosis in Acute Medicine and ICU’ at Medical Unit-III to enhance the diagnostic skills of young doctors and improve emergency cardiac care.

Addressing the inaugural session, Principal Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC) Prof Dr Farooq Afzal said that the growing number of cardiac patients in the country had made modern training for young doctors a pressing need. He said timely and accurate diagnosis in emergency departments and intensive care units was crucial for ensuring prompt treatment, adding that correct clinical decisions in critical situations often determined whether a patient’s life could be saved.

He said that although advances in medical research had made treatment more effective, successful outcomes ultimately depended on the professional competence and clinical expertise of physicians.

During the workshop, Prof Dr Khurram Saleem provided practical training in accordance with international guidelines on the early identification of acute coronary syndrome, life-threatening arrhythmias, electrolyte imbalances and cardiac changes in ICU patients. Participants were also trained in the accurate interpretation of electrocardiograms (ECGs).

Assistant Professor of Medicine Dr Muhammad Maqsood stressed that physicians working in emergency departments and ICUs must have complete command over ECG interpretation, as every moment in emergency care was vital to saving patients’ lives.

Postgraduate trainees, young doctors and medical students, including Dr Umar Ijaz, Dr Sabira Sharif, Dr Qurat-ul-Ain and Dr Laiq-ur-Rehman, attended the workshop. The participants received hands-on training in diagnostic techniques and emergency treatment decision-making through clinical case studies and sample ECG reports.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the organizers thanked the experts for sharing their knowledge and reaffirmed their commitment to organizing similar professional training programmes in the future.

Lahore: In the first phase, the city has been given the task of cleaning up beggars. A meeting was held in Punjab Interior Department under the chairmanship of Secretary Home Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi, in which it was decided to implement an effective and integrated strategy against beggars.

Secretary Social Welfare Saira Umar, Special Secretary Interior Zainab Khan, DG Social Welfare Dr. Sheshanshah Faisal, DG Probation and Parole Shahid Iqbal, Additional Secretary Prison Roman Burana, Additional Secretary Judicial Abdul Rauf and other officers participated in the meeting.

In the meeting, it was decided that strict action will be taken against beggar mafia in public places while Safe City Authority and Traffic Police have also been entrusted with the responsibility to expose the network of beggar mafia.

Lahore: The 983rd annual urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, commonly known as Data Ganj Bakhsh, will begin on Sunday, August 2, with devotion and respect, for which all arrangements for three-day celebrations have been completed.

In the opening ceremony of the urs, special prayers for the security, peace and stability of the country will be organised, while in view of the arrival of thousands of pilgrims, arrangements have also been made for the distribution of langar on a large scale. A foolproof security plan has been implemented on the occasion of the Urs, CCTV cameras have been activated and a modern control room has been set up to monitor all activities.

A large number of volunteers have also been deployed to guide and serve the pilgrims so that they can be provided with all possible facilities. Meanwhile, Commissioner Lahore Nauman Yousaf reviewed the arrangements for Data Darbar and chaired a special administrative meeting at Hajveri Hall, in which Deputy Commissioner Lahore Captain (retd) Muhammad Ali Ijaz, along with officials of LWMC, WASA, Rescue 1122, LESCO, Punjab Food Authority and the Darbar administration attended.

The meeting directed to ensure foolproof arrangements for cleanliness, traffic, electricity, water, emergency services and security during the Urs, while all relevant institutions were ordered to remain on high alert and maintain mutual communication so that the best facilities can be provided to the pilgrims.

Lahore: Secretary Provincial Transport Authority Hasan Ahsan has issued new orders to protect travel rights of special people across Punjab and provide them with better travel facilities. All regional transport authorities have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the prescribed facilities for special people and provide special concessions in fares to disabled people in public transport. Instructions have also been issued to immediately provide the prescribed concessions to persons holding disability cards.

According to the orders, public transport will be made more accessible for special people, while the availability of ramps and special seats at all bus stands has been made mandatory. Along with this, an awareness campaign will also be launched at bus stands regarding the rights of special needs persons and the facilities available so that the public and transport staff are fully aware of these facilities.

The Provincial Transport Authority has also decided to continuously monitor the performance of transport operators. According to the authorities, indiscriminate legal action will be taken against transporters who do not provide the prescribed facilities and concessions in fares to special needs persons.

Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President and former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind on Saturday.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar were also present. During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the overall political situation in the country.
