Acting Governor hails Makkah defence agreement


Lahore: Punjab Acting Governor Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan on Sunday welcomed the historic defence agreement signed between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye in Makkah, saying that the agreement was a clear recognition of Pakistan’s diplomatic and defence importance.



He said the growing defence cooperation among the three brotherly Muslim countries was a strong manifestation of mutual trust, shared security and their commitment to lasting peace and stability in the region. Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said defence cooperation among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye would not only further strengthen bilateral relations among the three countries but also reinforce the concept of collective security in the region. He said the partnership was not directed against any country but aimed at promoting peace, stability, mutual respect and shared interests. He paid tribute to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for his successful diplomacy and vision, saying that under his leadership, Pakistan had effectively demonstrated its diplomatic role at the global and regional levels. He stated that the important agreement signed in Makkah was a major diplomatic achievement for Pakistan, of which the entire nation was proud. The Acting Governor also praised Pakistan’s defence capabilities
and the professional competence of its armed forces under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.



He said the Pakistan Army had always played a responsible role not only in safeguarding the country’s security, sovereignty and defence but also in promoting peace and stability in the region. He said Pakistan did not seek confrontation with any country and believed in peace, mutual respect and cooperation. ‘A strong defence is a guarantee of peace and the foundation for safeguarding national sovereignty, ‘ he said, adding that Pakistan would continue playing a positive role in promoting peace and development in the region while protecting its national security.



Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said the Makkah defence agreement provided an important opportunity for Pakistan to open new avenues of diplomatic, defence and economic partnerships. He said Saudi Arabia’s economic strength, Turkiye’s industrial and defence capabilities and Pakistan’s strategic geographical location, human resources and defence expertise could create new opportunities for cooperation among the three countries in trade, investment, technology and defence production.



Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said the partnership among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye would serve as a means of promoting peace, stability and prosperity across the region. He congratulated Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the entire nation on the historic defence agreement and prayed that Allah Almighty would always bless Pakistan with peace, security, stability and development.
