Peshawar: The 16th Senate meeting of Agricultural University Peshawar, chaired by Adviser to the Chief Minister on Agriculture and Pro-Chancellor of the university, Mian Muhammad Umar, here on Friday, approved the budget for the year 2026-27.
The meeting also endorsed the annual performance for 2025, ratified the university’s Annual Report 2024-25 and approved other key administrative and financial matters.
The senate conducted a detailed review of the university’s financial and administrative performance. Future strategy, development projects and academic goals of the institution also came under discussion. It was said that joint efforts would continue to make Agricultural University Peshawar a model institution for research, innovation and agricultural education.
Addressing the participants, Mian Muhammad Umar said the Agricultural University Peshawar is playing a pivotal role in the development of the province’s agriculture sector, promotion of modern research and advancement of higher education.
He stressed that the university must adopt the path of self-reliance to further improve its academic standards, research activities and administrative capacity. ‘This will enable the institution to utilize its resources effectively and further strengthen its identity at both national and international levels, ‘ he added.
He noted that the university has unique opportunities in the form of research farms, modern research laboratories and other core facilities. He urged agricultural experts to make full use of these resources to enhance research on crops, soil, irrigation, climate change and other agricultural challenges.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Agriculture, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Muhammad Bakhtiar Khan, along with other members of the Senate.
