Islamabad:Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Engineer Amir Muqam on Thursday attended the special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly held for the presidential election and congratulated Dr. Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan on his election as President of Azad Kashmir.
Speaking to the media outside the Assembly Hall after the election, the federal minister also congratulated members of the AJK Legislative Assembly and the people of Azad Kashmir on the occasion.
Amir Muqam said that a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had been established in Azad Kashmir due to the ‘extraordinary vision’ of party leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
He said a new era of development and prosperity had begun in Azad Kashmir.
The federal minister said Dr. Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan, a son of Poonch Division, had been elected President of Azad Kashmir.
Amir Muqam appealed to protesters to end their protest and play their role in the development and prosperity of Azad Kashmir.
‘We want the protesters to come to the Assembly and play their part in the development and prosperity of Azad Kashmir,’ he said.
Speaking about the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the federal minister said Pakistan would continue to extend full diplomatic, moral and political support to the people of occupied Kashmir until they achieved their right to self-determination.
He said Pakistan would continue to raise the Kashmir issue at diplomatic and political forums and support the people of IIOJK in their struggle for their rights.
