Dera ismail khan: The district administration and Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) have intensified anti-encroachment operations across Dera Ismail Khan to ensure smooth traffic flow, facilitate pedestrians and improve civic facilities for citizens.
On the directives of TMO Dera Ismail Khan Muhammad Abdul Rehman, anti-encroachment teams, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Dr Hamid Siddiq, carried out operations at various locations in the city.
Encroachment Supervisor Muhammad Arshad and his team conducted operations in Muslim Bazaar, Rahim Bazaar, Commissioner Bazaar, Kalan Bazaar and Topan Wala Bazaar, removing temporary encroachments and clearing public passages. Several shopkeepers were warned to keep their merchandise within the designated limits and avoid occupying public roads and passages. A shop was also sealed for violating the instructions.
Meanwhile, Encroachment In-charge Fahad Khan Sadozai and his team launched operations along Multan Road, Ara Road and the route from New Bannu Chungi to Thoya Fazal. Temporary encroachments, goods placed outside shops and obstructions created by pushcart vendors were removed, restoring roads and public passages for smooth movement.
The vendors and shopkeepers were directed to use designated spaces and refrain from placing goods on roadsides or government land, which could obstruct traffic and pedestrian movement.
An operation was also conducted at New Sabzi Mandi, where temporary encroachments from roads and public passages were removed and pushcart vendors were shifted to designated locations. Police personnel accompanied the anti-encroachment team during the operation. The team warned violators that legal action would be taken if encroachments were re-established.
Separately, TMA officials inspected Qureshi Mor Mandi to review arrangements for livestock and visitors. T.O.R Arman Hussain, Sanitary Inspector Niaz and Rent Inspector Farman Hussain, along with their team, reviewed the availability of livestock feed and other essential facilities.
Veterinary services were available at the mandi to provide necessary assistance regarding animal health, while arrangements for clean drinking water and seating facilities were also ensured for visitors.
In another civic initiative, TMO Muhammad Abdul Rehman and Assistant Commissioner Dr Hamid Siddiq, accompanied by Garden Supervisor Hamid Noor, paid a surprise visit to Haq Nawaz Park. All staff were found present on duty.
The Assistant Commissioner inspected different sections of the park, including cleanliness arrangements and play equipment, and expressed satisfaction over the overall condition of the facility. The officials appreciated the park staff for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and upkeep.
TMO Muhammad Abdul Rehman said providing citizens with clean, well-maintained and pleasant public spaces was among the administration’s priorities, adding that no compromise would be made on cleanliness and beautification of parks.
The administration reiterated that anti-encroachment operations would continue without discrimination to ensure better traffic management, uninterrupted pedestrian movement and improved civic facilities for the people of Dera Ismail Khan.
