Faisalabad: Faisalabad has intensified its drive to transform the city into a clean and zero-waste urban center, combining a citywide sanitation operation with a sustained anti-littering campaign for changing public behavior and making cleanliness a shared civic responsibility under Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz’s ‘Suthra Punjab’ programme.
A spokesman for local administration said that on the directions of Managing Director Suthra Punjab Agency (SPA) Faisalabad Imran Shams, the Anti-Littering Squad is conducting awareness activities across different parts of the city including markets, commercial centers and other public places.
During campaign, the citizens, shopkeepers and particularly roadside vendors are being educated about the importance of cleanliness and proper disposal of waste at designated locations.
The Anti-Littering Squad is urging citizens not to throw garbage on roads, footpaths, in markets or at other public places rather they should play their role in keeping their surroundings clean.
The officials are also informing citizens that violations of anti-littering laws can lead to fines and other legal action, stressing that maintaining cleanliness requires both effective municipal services and responsible public behavior.
Special attention is being given to fruit and vegetable vendors, who have been directed to ensure that waste does not accumulate around their stalls.
The vendors are being instructed to dispose of fruit, vegetable and other waste in designated dustbins or at specified disposal points so that cleanliness standards can be maintained in markets and other public places.
Suthra Punjab Agency Faisalabad has appealed the citizens to actively support anti-littering campaign and adopt cleanliness as a routine civic responsibility.
Keeping roads, markets and public places free from litter was imperative for creating a healthier living environment and achieving the broader objective of a clean and zero-waste Faisalabad.
The citizens were urged to avoid littering, properly dispose of household and commercial waste and cooperate with sanitation teams and the Anti-Littering Squad to make the cleanliness campaign effective and sustainable, the spokesman added.
