Lahore: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday granted post-arrest bail to a suspect accused of collecting funds for a proscribed organisation and distributing hate literature.
ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain heard the bail petition filed by Hassan Ghafoor and ordered his release against surety bonds worth Rs 400, 000.
During the hearing, the defence counsel argued that the accused had no affiliation with any proscribed organisation and had been falsely implicated in the case.
The state prosecutor opposed the bail plea, maintaining that the suspect had collected funds for the banned outfit and distributed provocative literature.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court allowed the bail application and ordered the suspect’s release upon furnishing the required surety bonds.
The case was registered by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) earlier this year.
