Lahore: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday dismissed the post-arrest bail petitions of four alleged members of a banned religious organisation in cases involving rioting, arson and violence against police personnel.
ATC Judge Shahid Sikandar announced the decision, rejecting the bail pleas of accused Mutiullah, Muhammad Tabish, Abbas and Afzal, who had approached the court from jail seeking release on bail.
During the proceedings, the prosecution opposed the bail applications, arguing that the accused were allegedly involved in attacking police personnel and participating in acts of arson and rioting.
The prosecution stated that the accused were present at the scenes of the incidents and actively participated in the violence and destruction.
The prosecution maintained that the allegations against the accused were serious and that the circumstances of the cases did not warrant their release on post-arrest bail.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the ATC dismissed all four bail petitions.
A case against Afzal has been registered at Shahdara Town police station, while Mutiullah is facing a case registered at Shahdara police station. Muhammad Tabish is accused in a case registered at Bhikki police station in Sheikhupura, while Abbas is facing a case registered at Kot Lakhpat police station.
