Islamabad:: Meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Human Rights was held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza, MNA.



The Committee expressed grave concern over the rapid growth of child begging, child abuse and increase of drugs in private and government educational Institutions and directed that the Ministry of Human Rights and the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) may take effective measures to curb these social evils.



The Committee urged upon the need for introduction of effective legislation and proper implementation of existing Laws to protect the Rights of Child. The Committee directed that M/o Human Rights may come up with the proposals to strengthen NCRC so that the protection of child could be implemented in real sense.



The Committee directed that M/o Human Rights may develop proper liaison with M/o Education to create awareness about drugs, child abuse and use of social media platforms to prevent our young generation from these social evils.



The Committee deferred the briefing of remaining departments of M/o Human Rights till its next meeting.



Earlier, the Secretary and Chairperson NCRC briefly apprised the Committee about the mandate and scope of activities of NCRC which was appreciated by the Committee.



The meeting was attended by the MNAs Danyal Chaudhary, Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, Dr. Nelson Azeem, Ms. Naz Baloch, Naveed Aamir, Ali Muhammad, Sher Afzal Khan, Muhammad Riaz Fatyana, Gohar Ali Khan, Ms. Zartaj Gul through video link besides Ahmad Kan, Ms. Sehar Kamran and Ms. Wajiha Qamar.

KP minister urges people of Kurram to reject elements fanning extremism


Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law and Member of the Supervisory Committee on District Kurram Peace Aftab Alam Afridi Advocate



on Thursday expressed the hope that the agreement between two parties in Kurram district would prove to be a milestone in lasting and durable peace in the area and its rapid development.



In a statement issued here he welcomed the peace agreement reached with the mutual consent of both the parties and the personal efforts of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Kurram district.



The Law Minister requested all the parties to reject the elements spreading hatred and create consensus and unity in their ranks.



He added that it was his utmost desire that the atmosphere of peace and brotherhood should be established in the district and routine life was restored.



Aftab Alam said that violence always gave rise to violence, which was neither in the interest of the parties, nor the region and the government.



He noted that If peace prevailed in the area, there would be development and positive changes in the lives of the people.



The Minister especially appreciated the tireless work and efforts of the Divisional Administration Kohat, District Administration Kurram and Grand Jirga in finalizing the peace agreement.

Squads formed at Tehsil level to eliminate stray dogs:

Sargodha: In compliance with government directives,the District Council Sargodha formed permanent squads at the tehsil level to address the issue of stray dogs.

According to official sources, union secretaries of the Local Government Department were instructed to cooperate with these squads by identifying areas with stray dogs to enable swift action.

Deputy Director Local Government, Babar Shehzad Ranjha,had appointed Assistant Directors of Local Government in each tehsil as monitoring officers for the initiative. The officer were tasked to ensure implementation within a seven-day deadline.It was also directed to submit daily progress reports to maintain accountability.

"The measure is aimed at addressing public safety concerns effectively and ensuring a sustainable solution to the stray dog problem",Babar concluded.

PESCO notifies power suspension in Hazara division

Peshawar: The PESCO on Thursday informed that due to maintenance work power supply will remain suspended from Abbottabad Grid Station on 4th January from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. resultantly consumers of Rawalkot, Damtoor, Bagnotar feeders will face inconvenience.

Likewise, it said power supply will remain suspended from Oghi Grid Station on 4th and 6th January from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, resultantly consumers of Susal, Dilbori, Darband, Shergarh feeders will face inconvenience.

The power supply will remain suspended from Balakot grid station on 4th, 6th and 7th January from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, resultantly consumers of Balakot, Boi, Ghari Habibullah, Kaghan feeders will face inconvenience.

The power supply will also remain suspended from Mansehra grid station on 4th 6th and 7th January from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, resultantly consumers of Ghazikot, Ahsan Shaheed, City Mansehra, Chanai, Qlandarabad, Attar Sheesha, Shaheen Shahid, Sasain Nawab, Citi Dheri, Murad Pur, Khaki, Baffa, Shinkiyari, Dhodiyal, Pakhal feeders will face inconvenience.

Moreover, the power supply will remain suspended from Mansehra-Oghi Transmission Line on 7th January from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, resultantly consumers of Oghi, Battal and Jabri Power House grid connected will face inconvenience.
