Chiniot: An awareness seminar was held at Government Postgraduate Islamia College, Chiniot, under the auspices of the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force, aimed at protecting the youth from drug abuse and raising awareness about its dangerous effects.
According to reporter correspondent, addressing the seminar, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd.) Allah Ditta, Additional Director of the Punjab Counter Narcotics Control Station (Chiniot District), stated that drug prevention is a priority for the Punjab government.
He noted that the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force is focusing on public awareness alongside anti-narcotics enforcement to achieve this goal.
He emphasized that the youth represent the country’s future and it is the collective responsibility of all to educate them about the harmful effects of drugs and provide a safe environment.
He highlighted that drug abuse impacts not only physical health but also mental well-being and social life. If young people fall prey to drug addiction, their education, future prospects and family lives are jeopardized.
Consequently, parents, teachers and all segments of society must play their part in guiding and providing timely support to the youth. Participants were informed that fostering healthy activities, sports, a positive educational environment and strong communication with parents and teachers is essential for preventing drug abuse.
The speakers emphasized that an effective campaign against drugs is not solely the responsibility of government agencies, rather every citizen including parents, educational institutions, the media and civil society must play their part.
By fostering public awareness and providing timely guidance, the younger generation can be shielded from the scourge of drugs and empowered to play a meaningful role in the nation’s development and progress.
