Burewala:An Additional Sessions Court in Burewala on Wednesday has sentenced a murder convict to death and awarded 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment to his accomplice in a case involving a fatal armed clash within the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station.
Additional Sessions Judge Shaukat Ali sentenced Muzammil Hussain to death under Section 302(b) of the Pakistan Penal Code and ordered him to pay Rs2 million in compensation to the heirs of the deceased. The death reference has been sent to the Multan Bench of the Lahore High Court for confirmation.
The court sentenced Akhtar Hussain to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment under Section 324 and imposed a fine of Rs50,000. He was also ordered to pay Rs967,619 as arsh to the injured person. Abdul Ghaffar alias Kali was directed to pay Rs967,619 as arsh and Rs25,000 as daman, while Ehsan, Muhammad Farooq alias Kali and Waqar Aziz alias Vicky were ordered to pay Rs80,000, Rs65,000 and Rs25,000, respectively, as compensation to the injured persons.
According to the court order, failure to pay the awarded amounts would result in imprisonment. Three convicts were already in custody, while four others who were on bail were taken into custody from the court premises and shifted to District Jail Vehari under police escort.
