Two alleged accused of attack on AC Kurram arrested


Peshawar: Police have arrested two alleged accused involved in an attack on Assistant Commissioner (AC) Kurram Saeed Manan that left him and five others including policemen.



Police informed on Saturday that the arrested accused have been identified as Iqrar Hussain and Maysam adding that both are residents of Fatah However, police did not mention the place of their arrest.



Police said the accused were handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation. Authorities are working to determine the motives behind the attack and identify any potential facilitators.



A security operation in the area was also under consideration in response to the incident.



KP announces Rs10,000 Ramadan Package for deserving families

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a special Ramadan relief package for deserving families, official sources said on Saturday.

Under this initiative, the provincial government will provide Rs. 10,000 to each selected family during the holy month of Ramadan.

As per details, 5,000 families will be chosen from each of the 115 constituencies across the province.

The selected families will receive a Rs. 10,000 cheque in the first ten days of Ramadan.

To ensure fair distribution, the government has assigned different departments to oversee the selection process.

Sources said a total of Rs. 8 billion will be allocated for the Ramadan package. The entire distribution process will be monitored directly from the Chief Minister's House.

Four drug peddlers held

Sargodha: The police on Saturday arrested four accused and recovered narcotics and a pistol from them.

A police spokesman said that teams of different police stations conducted raids and arrested four accused besides recovering 1.40kg hashish, 310 liters of liquor and a pistol. The accused were identified as Umar, Adnan, Waqar, and Hammad.
