Peshawar: A meeting of the special committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government led by Excise Minister Khaliq-ur-Rehman and Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud was held to address aggravating traffic issues in the provincial capital.

The committee decided to recommend the launch of BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) services on Khyber and Warsak roads, said a press release issued after the meeting.

This initiative was in line with the directives of KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, aimed at controlling traffic congestion and improving the flow in Peshawar.

Additionally, the committee proposed extending the BRT service from Ring Road to Kohat Road via GT Road. Once approved by the provincial government, these expansions were expected to significantly ease traffic flow on these routes and lessen the burden on adjacent roads.

Lodhran: In a swift and timely operation, Dhanote police successfully thwarted the kidnapping of a 7-year-old girl and arrested the suspect on the spot.

According to the police, the suspect lured the child under the pretense of selling sweets and took her away on a motorcycle.Local people informed police helpline 15 about the suspicious activities of the suspect.

Acting on the information, the police traced and arrested the suspect, who attempted to hide in nearby fields.

An abduction case was registered against the accused, and further investigation was launched.

Peshawar: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Wednesday visited the Sharqi Police Station in Peshawar and inaugurated a new Police Facilitation Center as the chief guest.

The ceremony was attended by Inspector General of Police and other relevant officials.

During his visit, the Chief Minister inspected the various sections of the newly established Police Facilitation Center. The high-ranking police officers briefed him on the services and facilities provided by the center.

The Facilitation Center aims to offer all essential police services under one roof. These services include police clearance, character certificates, foreign registration, employee verification, domicile verification, missing and theft reports, rental information forms, traffic details, and driving licenses.

Additionally, services such as driving learner permits, police welfare admissions, tender information, police recruitment, victim support, and legal advice will also be available at the center.

The center operates through an integrated and online system, allowing citizens to avail these services from the comfort of their homes without visiting the police station.

This Police Facilitation Center is the third of its kind in the province, with similar centers already established in Nowshera and Charsadda. In the next phase, these centers will be expanded to other districts.

The Chief Minister directed relevant authorities to establish such centers in all divisional headquarters across the province without delay.

Ali Amin Khan Gandapur emphasized the provincial government's commitment to providing maximum facilities to the public across all sectors. He assured that the culture and environment of police stations would be made more public-friendly.

"We will create a police culture where the public feels completely safe," said Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, praising the KP Police for its role in protecting citizens' lives and property.

He reiterated that the provincial government is prioritizing resources to meet the needs of the police and align them with modern requirements.

Bahawalpur: A meeting of the District Welfare and Rehabilitation Unit Bahawalpur was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters (ADCH) Sumera Rabbani.

The meeting focused on gaining awareness of the issues faced by special individuals and reviewed the measures taken to address these issues. The ADCH said that special individuals deserve special attention. In accordance with the directives of the Punjab government, steps are being taken for the welfare of special individuals.

She stressed that following the government instructions, employment should be ensured for special individuals in the private sector according to a 3 per cent quota, and a 50 per cent discount on fares should be provided for their travel.

In this regard, banners regarding the 50 per cent travel discount for special persons should be displayed at the bus stand. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Director of Social Welfare, officials from other relevant departments, and representatives of special individuals.

Bahawalpur: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Special Secretary of the Housing Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department of South Punjab Rana Muhammad Saleem regarding the Annual Development Program (ADP) for 2024-25.

The heads of the Bahawalpur Development Authority, Parks and Horticulture Authority, Punjab Housing and Town Planning Authority, and Public Health Authority participated in the meeting.

Officials from the Bahawalpur Development Authority and Parks and Horticulture Authority informed the meeting about the measures taken concerning the Annual Development Program. Rana Muhammad Saleem directed that all resources be utilised for timely completion of development projects and that a comprehensive and coordinated strategy be adopted in this regard.

Mansehra: At least three people on Wednesday died and seven others were injured when a jeep traveling from Banda Jalglee to Shinkiari met with a tragic accident at Kalan Dhakki Banda Jalglee, plunging into a deep ravine after the driver lost control.

According to the police sources, the accident claimed the lives of three individuals, including Haji Muhammad Fayyaz, his wife, and another women while Seven others sustained injuries, including the jeep driver Aslam, along with passengers Waqas, Sadiq, and Ijaz.

Rescue teams and local residents rushed to the scene to assisted in recovering the injured and the deceased.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
